Add placement on my site, should I accept??

Hey folks. I launched my first truly successful site a few months ago, and it's been generating income for me on a daily basis. I just received an email from a guy who wants to place a cosmetic surgery add on my site.

He hasn't given me any rates as of yet, he's asking me for what rates I'd be happy with. Now I'm new to IM, and have never been approached regarding this.

Firstly, if I'm making daily sales, is it a good idea to have 3rd party adds on my site that could distract my potential customers? Or is it generally seen as a good thing to have others adds on my site, because it'll generate a constant reliable income stream?

Your thoughts would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I would definitely give it a shot. Depending on how much traffic and authority your site has you can make a really pretty penny off selling banner space. Also if your client is getting a boatload of leads through you then you can even raise the price.

If your losing money then simply contact the person and let them know the situation. They will either pay more for the banner space or you can simply go back to what it was before. No loss for you, only a chance at bigger profits in my opinion.

Is your site related to cosmetic surgery? Will this ad discourage any of your visitors from coming back?

It all depends on how much you are currently making v. how much you would gain or lose by placing the ad. If this is a competing ad, definitely consider how much paying traffic you would be diverting from your other offers. If it compliments rather than competes, go for it.

IMO, it's likely worth a test. Everyone here is right that ultimately you'll want tot make an informed decision based on the potential earnings of the ad and the effect (if any) it may have on your existing conversions. You won't really have the information you need unless you at least test it out.

If you can negotiate an impression deal, and he's asked you to name your price, then you can ask at a CPM that will make it worth your while regardless. If it's performance-based, then you really have to run a test to see how your traffic performs.

Hmmm... it is good if you accept it.
You will get some income from it.
You can also try to place the advertise from other by offering it on webmaster forum.

It is additional income for you so why not give it a try. Just as long as it won't drive away or lessen your current customers. It is an opportunity for you to build another clientele on your website. Make an agreement with them that it is something your trying for now.
