domain name and keyword

To get ranked up for a keyword, does my domain name have to have that keyword to be in the first page of the Big G.

    Probably for the good ranking and indexing get back links from high PR websites and do it a good onpage optimization for your domain.

    not really, but it helps alot if your site has the keyword as the domain. there are other factors that did how high your site ranks for the keyword other than the domain. the keyword as your domain certainly helps your site but its not necessary

    No but it helps people to decide if its worth the time to click on the link.

    Ex. If you do an ad about 'Online Marketing' then it would be nice to see something about online marketing in the link instead www.mydogisdead.com - would you click on it?. Not me.

    so having relevant keywords is a plus and to rank for a keyword(s) you need quality content. They say backlinks helps which is true at some point but fresh quality content is what fuels the fire.

    If your domain name is your keyword than you have a good chances of getting good result in search engines only if you have good amount of quality backlinks....

    It definitely can help but you still need to get backlinks and do onpage SEO. There are a lot of sites that don't have the keyword in them that rank very high for keywords, so domain name isn't everything.

    No - you do not have to have the keyword in the domain name to rank well.

    Go to google a do a search for news, the top ranking sites are cnn, msnbc, news.google.com, news.yahoo.com, nytimes,,,,,,,,. CNN does not have "news" in its domain name and it ranks in first place for that keyword.

      Hey man,

      The wisdom is if you can get a .com/.net/.org domain with the exact keyword phrase you wanna get ranked for - do it. Because its one factor
      that'll help with the big G and it would be stupid to not use it.
      BUT,it doesn't mean you can't get ranked without it.

      neither does google, digg, del.icio.us or other major traffic magnets
      that exact explanation can be expanded to the top alexa lists

      Alexa Top 500 Global Sites

      you need to optimise meta descriptions and meta keywords,
      if you are using php you can look at using mod_rewrite to seo your links,
      get a proper xml sitemap and get it indexed properly

      google the following "google webmaster" "google sitemap" "mod_rewrite generator" this will start the process of getting seen on Big G

      i would also suggest you google

      "seo techniques" or "understanding seo"

    It does help and it helps HUGELY.

    It's easier to see that at foreign markets.. when I register a domain name in Portuguese with 2 words in it, almost every time it will go to Google's first page very quick, I back link just to get it indexed..

    I had a domain called just "toys" that got several sub pages on yahoo and Google result (for long keyword .html sub pages), but I stopped marketing it because I lacked good content to update it and wanted to invest in a more long-run business. Plus I didn’t have affiliate options, just PPC very cheap. A domain with two words will get first page for those two words almost every time when it is not a SATURATED market...

    Since English keywords are so saturated, you don't notice how much important it can be, but I think you will need less marketing efforts if your keywords are on the domain name.
