Ads on blogs

Someone approached me asking how much I would charge for an ad spot on my blog. This is the first time I have been asked this! Guess I have..."arrived!" LOL

Any thoughts of how much it should be? I could really use some guidance.

My blog is toxicbeautyblog.com to give you an idea of what I am all about.

Thanks!!!

  • i sold a link for a year for the price of 149$ per a year. that was a great deal because i couldnt make money any other way with this site.

    ask for the same price!
  • Check out buysellads.com ... compare to what those bloggers charge

    • I suppose it's like being headhunted by an prospective employer. At the start you have to do all the work & plant the seeds & once your more established, people start asking you for information & that's a sign that your business is growing.

  • Hard to put a specific value on it - it's worth whatever someone's willing to pay.

    • Base your price off of how much traffic you're getting.

If you're not getting that much traffic I would definitely go with either like $25/month or like $200 for a year. Give the advertiser a little discount for getting the whole year and then reinvest that profit.
  • just increase your traffic then ads value of website will also increase .. just do proper SEO for this
  • Last month I had 11,501 visits....how much would that merit for ads? Just curious, but I def will check into buysellads.com

    Mark-
    You're right! :-)
  • It's quite difficult to predict that. Everything depends on the advertiser. Some are willing to pay more and others are not.

I would try to find out what the advertiser is trying to promote and then offer them something based on that.

It might be good give them multiple choices, as I find this often leads to a higher chance of them doing business with you.

*PURELY EXAMPLES BELOW - NOT ESTIMATES*
For example, you might charge $17/month for the last ad on the left column.
$25/month for ad on the bottom of every page.
$37/month for ad second to last ad before "Recommended Reading"
$47/month for ad right next to the post
$57/month for ad at top left (first position)
$127 for ad appearing on top left + dedicated post on the product promoting it

Something like that might work nicely.

    • Proaffiliate,

Great tips, thanks! This ad would be for an all natural lipstick line that I have actually done a product review for on my blog so she already got tons of free publicity. Does that make any difference?

    • Wow, thanks again...do you mean $97 for a year? Or month?

  • Traffic, size of banner, location of banner are the primary factors you will have to consider.
  • I would charge $100 for a year for that site or 10 bucks a month. Your alexa rank is at 660,955 which is alright. You're getting a decent amount of traffic.
