Just curious if anyone knows of a good "Community" type wordpress theme. One built for chats/forums and such in mind to add later.
Thanks

Just type in "chat room Wordpress theme" in your search engine. Or "forum Wordpress theme."

Well, if you install BuddyPress plugin, it comes with a pretty cool default theme included and that allows all sorts of "community" functions.

+1 on the buddypress. If you go over to their site there is a pretty good collection of themes optimized for it. Some want cash, but there are some nice themes for free or very cheap.

If you are using Buddypress then I would either use Buddymatic as a framework or the version of the Studio Press framework modified for Buddypress by the same authors.

The authors are pretty good coders, probably better than the people creating Buddypress, and as they have commit level access for the WP project in particular the multisite stuff, you know that support will never disappear.

Hey Andy, thanks for the heads up on Buddymatic. I have a couple of community sites I'm planning and the theme looks like it might work.

I'm learning about Buddypress too and have been very impressed with what I've seen thus far. Just yesterday, there was a very helpful webinar put on by Lisa Sabin-Wilson on that very subject. Can't wait to dive in when I have time.

Thanks for asking that. I was looking for one sometime ago, but never got around to asking the Warriors here.

I'll certainly check out all recommendations made in this topic!
