New niche--what do you think?

I have some pretty good success in a variety of niches but am looking to expand.

I know the biggies (dating, IM, etc.) but was looking for something less mainstream.

Maybe something in sports like weight lifting, golf, I don't know. Looking for ideas.

I though I saw a post somewhere on here but couldn't find it about someone selling their golf info-product business golfbizinabox.net? I think that's what it was.

He was selling the whole enchilada...site/products/his list. Anyone help?

Remember one of the gurus..Edwards or Carlton..who were talking about how great that golf niche was.

I used to work with a guy who would sell products in the golf niche - it's a great business to be in, especially in the summer months, when everything starts to pick up for golfers.

He did really well last year, and it looks like he may do even better this year.

More and more I believe in the concept of looking for a PASSIONATE market. My best successes have come from areas where people really need what you have. The markets may be smaller, but the buyers are hungrier.

If you focus on a niche you care about you will find it much easier to be motivated to work on it. Atleast that has been my experience.

You can certainly do some promoting of sports products such as golf. Without looking though, i'm sure the "golf club" market is quite competitive. But i'm sure with some keyword research you could think of a golfing niche that would satisfy the needs of certain target groups.

I am involved with the golf niche, and it can be a great source of income. However, if you are going to be involved in the golf niche then you better really know what you are talking about.

You can bullsh*t a lot of niches, but it is very tough to do in golf. Someone who knows there stuff will see right through you. I played high school and college golf, and I can tell you that I don't think half of the people in the golf niche have ever stepped foot on a golf course.

However, if you do know golf pretty well then I would say go for it!

Dating and IM are monstrous niches, but golf isn't too far behind! Unless you are attached to it because you really like golf, I would go with a summer sport that's less saturated with IMers. Good Luck!

  • I know people in both markets. It really does not matter what any of us think. If this is an area of business you want to get in you should go do your market research first.

I did not do that with my business I wish I would of but I did not know to do it or even how to do it at the time.

Thanks for the input guys. I have some really good experience with golf and am an advanced player so have good knowledge. Of course, the amount of competition is a bit daunting but I may give it a run.

That's why I was asking about/interested in the offer that guy made to get into the golf niche. It seems as though it will reduce the risk of getting into that niche substantially. He' s got a 10 yr old golf info product business that has proven to make decent money and he's offering to give his entire product line/web assets and even his list.

I expect I would have to spend tens of thousands to try to establish those things on my own. I'm hoping this avenue can provide me a "jump start" into this lucrative niche and hopefully reduce my risk by being able to quantify my initial investment.

I did some research and was able to verify that this is in fact the site where he is offering the assets Golf Business In A Box

I've done this in a lot of niches that I wanted to explore...kind of "bought" into them so I can manage my start up costs.

Makes sense to me? I've never seen something like this offered in this niche and been waiting to delve into it for some time so it seems like a good route but still deciding.

Any input is apprecitaed on the "buy" versus "build" approach to get into this niche.

If this is a niche that you want to go after then jump in. You don't need to be an expert... there are already plenty of expert players, coaches etc from whom you can borrow knowledge.

You need to be able to market and sell it.

Develop an angle and jump in.
