Worth The Effort To Build Content On A Ecommerce Website?

Does anybody have any input? Say you have a ecommerce website which sells products, is it worth the effort to build a massive content section to that site?

You definitely need some content, but it doesn't need to be massive. If I were you, I would focus most of my content efforts on article marketing, forum posting, social bookmarking, etc, to drive up traffic. If you can lure visitors with informative, unique off-site content that's relevant to your products, they will be more prepared for the hard-sell once they visit your site.

Content is KING, SPEED it's QUEEN make sure your site provides ongoing feature rich content, that the site loads quickly and all your product images are optimized. Add a customer comments section if not already in place, have the latest comments posting to your home page and add other dynamic content relevant to your market niche which changes frequently.

I'd be interested in a method to attract visitors without good content..

Yeah. Content pulls people in, and they may then go on to buy.

Whatever you write will end up ranking for something, even if its a very long tail text string. Dont bother unless its unique though, because you will be so far down the SERPs that it isnt worth it.

Reviews of your product and news around your niche are good items to blog about.. Huge relevancy boost and the reviews should help you get a bump in sales anyways.

Absolutely you should be adding content. It will improve your rankings AND get you more traffic as well as getting you crawled more often, and getting deep links out of it when you post articles about products you sell.

This is a must. Every successful e-commerce site I know has a content rollout plan. And when you get some good content being produced regularly, find bloggers in your niche who will post it with backlinks.

Fair warning: It's possible I'm arguing with you because I have nothing better to do.
