The new iPhone - run your entire business?

My wife went to the mall today and gave me a
call... "You wouldn't believe the line at the Apple
store! It goes all the way to the end of the mall!"

And yes, we have friends who got in line at
midnight the night before who are that hardcore.

They were able to get their iPhone at 3 PM.
Crazy.

So I'm going to bit the bullet and jump on AT&T's
service. I've got to get an iPhone as my life is
all Maced out anyway.

That brings me to the question... How many
of you run most - if not all of your business
via your iPhone?

I've been running a lot of pieces with my ipod
touch - but looking forward to going all in once
I can just walk into the Apple store and buy
one with no line... in a week or two!

That said, it would be a good business tool. All the social networking tools or apps, posting to blogs whilst away from home, as well as a feed reader etc. Currently I'm using a 3 year old Windows Mobile PDA style phone. It's great, but some of those iPhone apps would sure come in handy.

What I find hilarious is how they're making a big deal about the face time video calls. We had video chat on phones here in Australia over 8 years ago, and on 3G too! I used to get free video chat each month, but then they started charging for it, so not too many people bother with it anymore.

I'm waiting a couple weeks for the iPhone4 . The line was 12 hours long today. I have been buying up 3GS's all day off of Craigslist (6 so far). I'll unlock them and double or triple my money on Ebay. Great for some quick cash. People are just about giving them away.

        SMART!

Imagine handing out your business card that says,
"We Buy Used iPhones Fast" with your # to hundreds
of people in line for the new phones... huh.

That's a brilliant idea for people who have the cash! I looked on craigslist and see a ton of money to be made!

      I agree completely.

I don't understand why you need to be "tied down" to wifi in order to make a video call ...

i have an iphone 3G and its great but my only complaint is that it stalls sometimes from the weak processor... hence the reason for me to upgrade.

ill wait til the hype dies down tho.

With a few exceptions of some software that we run on our PCs / laptops, I can manage almost everything from my iPhone 3GS. I'm not getting the new one for a while since I don't really see any need to at this juncture.

People really have a passion for the iPhone. They are almost as bad as Star Wars fans. Anyway, my goal is to be cell phone free by 2012.

I hate cell phones. I have one because it's my business phone and it's the basic model phone.

However, to be cell phone free I have to be a full time IM, so I've got to get back to work now.

    Peace,

    Shane

P.S. run your business from a cell phone? Wouldn't trust it

  • How could you possibly run a business off a device that's utterly uncomfortable to type on? I mean, seriously, have you guys typed a standard three-paragraph promotional email on an iphone? it's super annoying!

iPhones (and iPads) are OK to consume content, but not to create or even manage content.

Running your Business off an iPhone?

I have a two Blackberrys (a Curve and a Pearl) and an iPhone. The iPhone is a great toy, and I love it, but the Blackberry wins hands down for being a useful business tool.

Design-wise the Blackberry is just about perfect. The iPhone is still playing catchup.

Running your entire business would be pretty though, you wont want to be typing that much... On any phone. But it is a great compliment, I use a mobile phone and iPad when traveling for my business.

The iPhone can use a bluetooth cable though, tested it on my new one.

I went at 5:45am and was the only person in line for the only iPhone 4 at my local walmart. Score!
