$33,180 per month with Targeted Independent Ad Web Techniques

Hello, it has been a while since I made some contribution here at the Warrior Forum. I have been really busy lately, but today I have decided to release my favorite revenue stream, and that would be Targeted Independent Ads.

This post is pretty long, in simple terms first, you create networks of sites based around offline businesses. Offline business's pay advertising fees to be apart of that network. With the remainder of the post I will describe how to do this. I use, I, we, me, they, etc... most of the time I am talking about myself or team.

First I will explain the results

Currently I operate 113 websites that utilize this technique (I have paying customers who pay to see samples and how to design them, so I'm not going to share any urls here, so please don't ask). The total profit produced from this total network has been $33,180 plus or minus a few hundred.

From my results I have figured out the median of single website profit to be around $108 per month. This takes only five advertisers.

I have tested five advertising spots to produce the best satisfaction for both my advertisers and visitors to the site. The spots were tested by a controlled procedure. We took ten sites in the same niche, with similar readers, and put ten different ad formats on each site. Starting with ten on one then nine on the other, 8,7, etc, etc.

With five advertisers on the site it proved to showcase most user activity as well as advertisers satisfaction which is most important. The advertisers were seeing more response from their ads.

In any case, in reality it took me two years to perfect this technique to what it is now, so don't expect to get rich tomorrow off this, but my second month from day one I did make $3,000 per month, so if you work at it, it will definitely grow.

So now the real question is how do we do it?

If I was going to make a new network of sites today, I would first pick any geographical location, obviously part of the perfecting of the system is choosing the correct geographical locations for maximum profits. To your surprise big cities like New York and Los Angeles aren't the best spots. This can be done from Antarctica it really doesn't matter.

I'm going to go ahead and pick College Park, Maryland, zip code 20740. Utilizing a good site called ZIPskinny - Get the Skinny on that ZIP (demographics by ZIP Code) I can get information for that area. I look at these two demographics:

Household Income and Occupation

I see that almost 50% of this population are making $50,000+ , as well as almost 50% of the population have jobs in management/sales/office, making this a great place for business. Now utilizing basic business sense, College Park Maryland is the back town to University of Maryland. Being a large sport school you can make the general assumption that this town likes to 'represent' college and college sports. You might also be able to make the assumption that there are a lot of small business's that sell Maryland souvenirs such as t-shirts, mugs, accessories, etc.

Utilizing Yellowbook.com I research some businesses out.

Sporting Goods listings in College Park, MD at Yellowbook.com

Restaurants listings in College Park, MD at Yellowbook.com

I build a list of around 200 business's utilizing certain niches that I can target. Also, it is all a numbers game the more business's you propose to the more you will get a yes from. I have found through my results that I have seen anywhere's between a 3% to 23% sign up rate.

Once I build my list to around 200 or even more, I segregate it by who has a website and who doesn't. Those that do not have websites get transferred to the web development department to be built up and then introduced to our ad network. This list drops to about 110 businesses with websites. Two years ago we would only get around 75.

Keep in mind that when I first started this I did do all of this work, now it is taken care of by staff and outsourcing, which is a whole other chapter to this network.

The 110 businesses are segregated by niche again; in this case we would utilize five niches to build the list so we now have 20 businesses per niche. We build 3 websites per niche, for a total of 15 websites.

The site design can easily be done through means of Wordpress, for this site I would recommend Revolution Sport Theme. This type of site can also be outsourced for about $350. Sample, www.marlinsbaseball.com/

The three websites in each niche have 20 ads rotating through them with use of ad rotating scripts.

Now, utilizing seven traffic strategies we bring visitors to the site.

Once we have a week's worth of google analytic information about traffic from multiple of streams including PPC , we build proposals for these business's to stay in this network, and what we can do for them to bring more traffic to their business.

We discuss sponsorship, sponsored contests, posts, books, etc... It cost's $30 per month to be apart of this network we tell them...

Out of the 110 business's we will book out around 25 businesses now. Keep in mind we also have the results of other campaigns in similar markets to show them, you don't. However, in declining recessions businesses are looking for new things to stay afloat.

25 * $30 per month = $750 per month. We also, have them sign an independent advertising contract where they are signed on for minimum of 4 months, we work in quarters. Back when I started I did not have a contract but I would recommend it. We also have an advertiser backend where they can pay their bill and see their ad results.

This network I just set up will make revenues of $3,000 in four months, and if you think like me, it is valued at $4,500 in its first month.

This is not the end though, $30 per month is not a lot of money for small business's, and nor is $100 per month as long as it is bringing in results. You now expand your network to reach different sites, currently they are on 3 websites being rotated in their niche, but you have 4 other niches to include them on, so for $100 per month they can be apart of all 15 websites, in all niches, in all aspects. Out of the 25 business we have signed on in this geographical location, five of them will sign on.

This network now makes me, $1,100 per month. It is valued at $7,000, but it is not over yet. Remember the business's that did not have a website, in fact there were 90 of them, out of those 90, 18 of them will be web clients, producing minimum of $18,000 in revenue. Then out of those 18 they are all become part of the ad network to add another $540 of monthly revenue to the network.

Total Monthly Network Income = $1,640
Total geographical location Revenue = $19,640

Total Project (one month) revenue = $21,280

Wait Todd, you said $33,180 per month. Well, now think about that network's monthly income, as you build more and more, you keep getting that monthly income over and over again.

There it is, please ask questions.

P.S ~

Keep in mind, I have perfected his system, your limitations are only followed by how much you try to break them.

Great Idea Todd. I picked up a brilliant piece of information from your post which will help me to position my self better against the big website developers who have already swept through my city.

I really liked how you do your product and market research. That's something that seems so obvious, yet I've never thought of it before. Thanks for the tip!

    Very informative post Todd.

Do you call up your clients and visit them personally to clinch the contract or is it all being done online?

and do you employ adwords to drive targetted traffic?

    Thanks

    Hey Todd-

Great information. How did you contact each business owner - by phone, try to set up a meeting? Mailing? Email?

So do you flip your networks? Because I noticed that you're into flipping websites.

So if you get contracts for four months you have guaranteed income for specific period time which means anybody who wants to buy websites or an entire network is guaranteed revenue from the get go.

    Nice business model.

I'm also curious about what percentage you invest in PPC

    Hello,

    To answer some questions....

Business's are contacted via email, phone, and mailing in multiple following formats. At this point in my business, I have packages emailed out to them, tele-marketers to follow up on the package, and a phone call from me personally.

Since we are into flipping.... our main concern is building a site that has good reader loyalty, so what we do is utilize JV's, PPC, and other traffic boosters to build reader loyalty for the flip.

We flip single sites and networks, the network flips, flip out a large price, and usually only see interest from offline buyers that want to "own" a geographical location.

This brings us into Targeted Investor Flipping, but I don't want to get into that right now.
