Should free report be sample of product for sale - or something on different topic? - LIST BUILDING

Hello warriors,

I have started another thread talking about 2600+ hops and 2 sales. People have suggested trying to use a squeeze page and offering something free.

My question is:

Is it better to give away a free sample of the actual book you are selling or creating something new on the same topic? Or is it better to create a report that is on a different topic, but closely aligned?

My sales page is www [dot] dog-separation-anxiety-cure [dot] net if anyone is interested.

Should the squeeze page be part of a blog, or stand on its own and be funneled by article marketing e.t.c?

Appreciate any help.

Thanks people.

I recommend using a separate report as an opt-in incentive.

There are two reasons for this:

    1. You can make the report short and sweet. People are generally looking for a quick fix. With a few sample chapters, you're not offering a quick fix. With a separate, free report, you can focus it entirely on a quick fix. What I mean by this is: Make the report about something simple and valuable. Something that can be picked up and applied quickly.

    2. You can gear the free report towards promoting the full product.
A sample with something like "click here to get the full product" at the end isn't very enticing. In your free report, you can give value and at the same time pre-sell the full product several times throughout the report. Talk about benefits etc.
