Resource For Offliners....

Hi Warriors,

For those who are currently (or are interested in) doing offline marketing, you might be interested in reading the July issue of Entrepreneur magazine. They profiled a company, Dukky.com, which integrates online and offline marketing. They help lower their customers' advertising costs while allowing them to track their marketing efforts in real time and increasing traditional response rates exponentially.

I read the article, but only briefly looked at the site. As I understand it, a Dukky client uses a direct mail piece (postcard, letter, etc.) to drive their target market online to a URL personalized to the recipient. The recipient must then answer a few questions or part with some personal information (like a phone number and/or e-mail address) to receive the special offer. (A strong, very desirable offer is essential for this type of campaign.) Social media links and icons are provided so that the recipient can share the special offer with friends and family.

According to the article, response rates are multiples of traditional direct mail. Advertisers love it because

1) they can dramatically lower their advertising budgets (print and broadcast)

2) they can track their campaigns in real time (BIG benefit!) and

3) it allows them to jump on the social media bandwagon even if they never have previously.

According to the article, Dukky.com founders believe that the success of these types of campaigns is largely because it puts the consumer squarely in the driver's seat, which is what online marketing is all about (as opposed to TV and radio advertising which is based on interrupting the consumer).

The article said that Dukky.com solution packages start at several thousand dollars for large advertisers or resellers, but they also offer smaller packages at about $99/mo for smaller businesses/entrepreneurs.

If you're serious about bringing online marketing to offline businesses, this type of service/solution is definitely worth investigating! A simple low-cost postcard would drive your client's customers online and the rest of the heavy lifting in the marketing cycle would be done online for minimal cost. You'd outsource the technical aspects of the campaign to a service like Dukky.com

There may be other providers of such solutions out there and I only briefly scanned Dukky.com's site myself. But if you're trying to expand or start your offline business, I'd definitely check this out!

Hope this helps!

Michelle
