Tennis Forum Website Valuation?

I have a tennis forum website that I'm wondering what might be a reasonable value for. The site has been online since the mid/late 90s. Up until 2003 it just had a chat room & links to related books on Amazon. In mid-2003 I changed the site into a forum based on vBulletin and it has been a forum since then.

Being that it's one of my smaller sites I don't spend much time developing it or working on ad sales. I'm not sure that valuing the site based on the ads I've sold would be the most accurate way since not much focus has been put into that aspect of the site. In the past few months I've sold around $700 in ads, most recently I have caught the attention of the ad agency for one of the big tennis manufacturers and they spent a small amount advertising on the site in the past 1-2 months.

Site traffic has been growing slowly and steadily over the years. All organic. I'm thinking that traffic might be the best way to determine value since it's been quite stable over a long period of time.

Traffic over the past 24 months has been just over 270,000 unique visitors.

Any idea what might be a fair value for a tennis forum based on those details?

Thanks for any comments, etc.

John

A fair value of the website is about 2 years of its current revenue.

10,000++ unique visitors a month. If those were all targeted visitors (interested in tennis), you have a potential goldmine there.

My suggestion, though not really approved by the majority, is to open up an auction on eBay, and see what people are willing to pay for your site. Don't sell it unless you feel that it's a decent price.

After you get a rough estimate of it's pricing, head down to Flippa to auction it.

I would generally agree with that, except for what I mentioned in my first post about revenues. It wouldn't make sense to me for revenues to be the primary basis for valuing this particular site when that aspect of things was not a primary focus.

Maybe compare this to a nice commercial retail building on a busy street versus the same out in the middle of nowhere. The tennis forum has a long-term stable traffic averaging approximately 10k uniques per month, 150k uniques just in the past year or so. So even if the business inside isn't selling much, it's still a nice building in a pretty good location.

Any ideas on what 10k+ of targeted tennis related traffic per month is worth?

websiteoutlook.com reports $4700 for value. PR of 5, traffic rank of a bit over 780,000 and just over 18,000 backlinks.
