Perhaps an odd question about blog commenting

Here's a question I have about blog commenting - is it worth the time to do anything with your blog comment link after you've commented? Such as ping it or is that being done automatically by the blog itself (if they have the pinging set up)? Or social bookmark it?

Obviously I want to make my back linking efforts count but without overkill or wasting my time doing things that are overkill or just unnecessary.

Thanks,
Stacy

Not a odd question at all. Usually your comments and backlinks will show up naturally. However bookmarking and pinging can help for sure. I myself prefer to let everything happen naturally but to each is own. It really is boils down to preference and what works for you.

I typically do not do a whole lot with blog commenting, beyond just leaving the comment. It would be interesting if someone who has tested this could post results.

I would think that just letting the links be found naturally would suffice, but I would like to hear more opinions on the subject.

There are already good strategies for blog commenting that help you get more backlinks. Like commenting on dofollow blogs with top commentator plugin, aim to be the top commentator in the blog's TC list so that you get sitewide links etc etc. If you follow good strategies like this, not only will you get the backlinks, you get more traffic to your blog because people kinda want to know who this top commentator is.

      Hope it helps.

I don't see the point in utilizing Top Commentators plugin for back-links (e.g. making comments on blogs that have the plugin installed) because in my experience, I've noticed that at SOME point almost all websites end up taking that plugin down... rendering your link-building efforts useless.

Blog commenting works for traffic and for building credibility in your niche (especially among the bloggers whose blogs you're commenting on), but you have to do it regularly and post useful comments (try to ADD something to the article). I wouldn't do it for the back-link building though...

    Just my two cents.

Blog commenting will yield you results if you're leaving a comment at the right places preferably those which are all relevant to your niche. Alternatively, you could subscribe to few of your favorite blogs so you're kept posted and you can comment almost everyday as long as you like and build relationship with the blog owners. That I think is way much easier and natural strategy as providing a value as a blog commenter.

Very true - and more often than not, the other blog owner will return the favor.

Probably because she didn't add anything of value to the blogs. We all get inundated with rubbish or unrelated comments and obvious only commenting to get backlinks comments, so they get trashed.

  • i wouldn't waste time getting links to comments or pinging etc. or to anything I blog/site I don't own, they can delete it eventually, remove the post, delete the site and it was a waste of time.
