hi, i have been looking for where my website is ranked in google, yahoo etc. But upon searching it and locating it, i found that my web link looks like this

Nutrition Creatine
Nutrtion Creatine, a safe, trusted website with information about Creatine and also recomended cheap safe sites.> <link rel
nutritioncreatine.com/?cat=3 - Cached

(including title, description and then link) i am not sure why my website has ?cat=3 at the end? surely it cannot be good?

  • I'm guessing that your URL references a Wordpress blog site. The ?cat=3 is pointing to a particular category. If you want to point to the main page, remove the ?cat=3.

    • how would i remove the cat=3

as when clicking it, this takes me to the home page but to a ceratin blog, im guessing with the most times the keyword searched is mention? is there a way to have it saying "nutritioncreatine.com/Editorsnews/ or something?
  • Okay, you're talking about the pages indexed in Google... my bad. The ?cat=3 actually references the "Editor's News" category of the blog. If you're using the All-In-One SEO plugin, it converts category and post ID numbers into search-friendly links (i.e. "nutritioncreatine.com/category/editors-news"). Sounds like you probably didn't have the plug-in, submitted your site to the search engines, then added the plug-in later (since you now have the AIO type links).

My experience has always been that the search engine crawlers are kind of weird when looking at your site and some pages will appear in their index sooner than others. Eventually, the crawler should return and update the links to the modified URLs that you have now. The main page (without any categories or posts) should also show up eventually.
  • okay, my worries of deformed web pages are a little smaller now, i shall give it a little while to adjust itself before i try fixing it.

    thanks!
