Coupons explained – once you have a list of 10,000+, most companies in that niche will print special coupons for you. When people see the coupons (that people from your list have), they ask where they got them, and you get more business/subscribers. This works really well if you combine it with a viral system, i.e. 3 coupons: 10%, 25%, 50% off depending on how many people your subscriber suggests.

Some great "offline" traffic generation methods here Article Prince. I think a lot of times internet marketers (myself included) only consider online methods to generate traffic to various websites, blogs, offers, etc.

However, occasionally it works to look at sources "offline" in order to drive more traffic to your website. I would add local TV ads to your list (although you did mention commercials). These ads can drive a lot of traffic to your websites, if you can find a unique selling position for your local market.

There's a 'green millionaire' ad that airs all the time; I can't imagine how many people he gets to that landing page... so jealous :-p

I agree. I come from a background where we didn't utilize a lot of online marketing, so I have been considering using some offline items that I used in my past life.
I think a postcard mailing could be useful in some situations.

Also, to expand on the use of newspapers, some smaller, regional newspapers have great deals on inserts. Typically, they will accept them already printed, so their charge is based on insertion. And, classified advertising in the USA Today (Marketplace section) is surprisingly affordable, considering their circulation.

I jotted down several ideas from your list. Thanks!!

Oh then who cares. They screwed over all their American writers anyway, if I remember correctly. They still send a ton of traffic. Just use Associated content or Xomba instead. :-)

WCP = Writer's Compensation Program (This was a pretty huge occurrence....certainly deserving of a Google search or two). Not only was their WCP limited to US writers, but, for those who followed happenings at eHow, there were a series of very shady events that occurred leading up to their closure of their WCP. Bottom line, it didn't make financial sense to continue to pay lifetime residuals when, in fact, they could just route their writers to Demand Studios.

Haven't used them, but I had heard their was a way to write for revenue share there, as well. A flat-fee payment model IS ultimately the most lucrative to the company, I am sure: Writers give up their writing, and full rights to their content and the company receives a piece of content, for usually around $15, that they take and earn multiples on over the long run.

The offline methods are great for getting steady streams of curious traffic, and they qualify themselves. If they've seen your ad, gone on their computer, and gone to your site; chances are good that they'll sign up. Many of them are free too!

Flippa - ask people to sign up to your mailing list to be notified when you have more websites or domains for sale.

    Works really well.

I tried it with good results, but it was targeted. My coupon (pointing to my site obviously) only printed for people that bought dog food :-)
