What questions do you have on article marketing?

I know that most newbies start out with article marketing because of the small cash outlay (or free if you play it right), but I know a lot of ebooks left me confused. So....

What are your questions on article marketing?

What's been confusing you?

What do you feel was 'left out' of the last ebook you read?

Happy to help/answer since I've learned it the slow way. Thanks!

    Thanks for offering.

Will you share your method of promotion for your articles?

Maybe that's too broad of a question. What I mean is, after you publish your article, which sites do you post it to (2.0, ping, rss feeds, etc.)..?

I manually submit it to EZA, go articles, article dashboard, article base, and easy articles. Then I mass submit it using article bot, and submit to rss feeds using rss bot.

I always post it on my site first. I don't use social bookmarking, mostly because I built larger sites so I don't have to worry about ranking as much. Otherwise, using Onlywire. Wordpress pings automatically, so you don't need to ping.

I don't use SEO Nuke anymore... I build large sites and when I used SEO Nuke the build the first one, Google destroyed me. I now use Traffic Geyser, and Imacros. The two have allowed me to automate my entire process.

So... will you tell me if this is right?

You first publish your article on your blog and then wait for it to get indexed.... then you publish it on the main article directories, then mass distribute it.

Is there any concern about duplicate content when submitting to all these sites? Any need to spin or rewrite the articles?

There is no concern with duplicate content as long as the author name is the same. You are syndicating it, not duplicating it. I have never spun an article and I've written over 2000 for my sites.

So: write article on 'keyword', post on your site. Change the links so that they point to a landing page and your home page, then manually submit to top directories. At the same time, mass submit them. You don't have to wait for it to get indexed, it just has to be live.

There are some directories/Web 2.0 article submission properties that do not allow duplicate content. Review sites TOS and know what the sites want and don't want prior to submission.

I use articlebot and it's great, plus its inexpensive. As far as article writing, I write all of my own and occasionally take on orders from others.

Structure of a resource box is very important. You want a great landing page first; this will make your resource box easy. The trick is to make your resource box seem like an informational, helpful part of the article.

It would be like me ending this post with:

'If you're still having issues writing a resource box, check out (your site) for 131 free tips to writing amazing resource boxes. They're free, so no worries about spending money, and your CTR will double.'

See? It seems like it just fits in, but gives great free info. Hope that helps!

Hello Article Price, I would like to ask you about the SEO keyword optimization in the content of an article. How much density we should maintain??? I actually used to do 5-8 % of my keywords to repeat in the content, is that a good practice???

        You would :-P

@the density question: The longer the keyword, the lower the density. 3+ words, aim for 2% or lower. 2 words, aim for 4%. I build very large sites, and when a human reviewer at Google sees that I have 6% KD, I'll get killed.

Write for your readers first, they'll make the rankings come as long as you have some SEO.

At Ezine Articles, for example, you're limited to 2% keyword density, and if you go over it, their submission software will tell you you've done so and invite you to change that: you can't even get as far as a submission with more than that. But 2% is really plenty anyway, IMHO.

        Sorry, I'm gatecrashing the thread!
Exactly what Alexa said Be sure to know the rules (of any site) before you submit content to it.

What are your tips on writing articles faster? I've seen numerous claims of articles being written in less than 15 minutes etc. I still seem to take on average 30-40 minutes per article (including research, res box, good title, etc).

Hmm, I do worry about the duplicate content. I usually post an article on my site and then write 3 more unique artiles that contain the correct text for an achored link and them submit them across articles directories. Thus leaving me with 100% unique content on my sites.

So essentially I don't need to do this as the content is syndicated?

Thanks for offering to help. I might frequent this thread a bit more since I am new to the concept as well .

I was just thinking about one of my sites and wanted to know if article marketing will help me. On said site, I have about 3 keywords that I am trying to get noticed with.

For one of those 5 I am located in the middle of Page 1. Another keyword I am ranked at the bottom of Page 2, and for the 3rd I am ranked on Page 3. Obviously I want to improve my positioning for the Page 2/Page 3 keywords.

I am never done any article marketing before, so i'm curious if I write a few articles related to my subject, can I expect to see a bump in the rankings? I'm just not sure if I have the right idea.

        Thanks!

Correct, the only I change is the title and links. There is no duplicate content penalty.

You'd write one article per keyword and post it on your site. Then, change the links so that they point to your site, and submit everywhere that you can.

Write 100, then write 1000. I'm only partially kidding, but you will get better with time. I would also recommend purchase a speech tool if you don't have windows, and buying a typing program to learn to type faster.

Typically when starting a new article marketing campaign for a website - how many articles are needed to start seeing results? (Quantified as an influx of visitors to your site).
I do know this varies and that one article can do the trick, but it does seem quantity is key.
    Anyone's experiences welcomed.

    Thanks!

30 for a small site, 100 for long term building/traffic. Of course, they have to be quality keywords.

    Hi,

Useful thread, already learnt a lot! Thanks. It is threads like this that make this forum gold. 2 Questions.

    1. I must have missed something in a lot of other things I've read, but what is the importance of the resource box? As far as I can tell in EZA you can not even put links there.

    2. Lets say you are trying to rank for 'big yellow widgets', since you have a site called www.bigyellowwidgets.com. Do all your articles have to contain this in their title, or is anchor text just enough? In other words, you could write an article called 'Top 10 Must Buy Products for 2010' and as #6 or whatever you include big yellow widgets

Thanks! Will be subscribing to this thread, not just for this answer but everything else. Lots of nuggets!

Okay I have a question about optimising you time.

Say you've written 10 articles (accepted) and you have some left. Which of these things are a good use of time, which ones are a waste?

      • Build backlinks to those articles
      • Submit those same articles to additional directories, keeping links the same for additional traffic to your site
      • Submit those same articles to additional directories, linking back to the original article for the juice (e.g. Go Articles linking to EZA)
      • Spin the article, submit back to same directory

        1. the resource box is the only place that you can put links, that's why it is so important.
        2. I only write one article per keyword, but if it's a general keyword then I include it somewhere in the body of all my articles to help my site rank for it. It doesn't have ot be in the title.

They are both available at incansoft.com . When/if you purchase them, they have full guides on how to use their submit tools :-) BTW, articlebot can be used for spinning, but it doesn't have to be. It's main purpose is submission.

As long as they're for different keywords, I'd submit them pointing to your home page and landing page everyone you can. You do this for 2 reasons: get traffic to your landing page, and build backlinks to your entire site. Hope that helps!

Sorry if I sound dumb, just really want to understand what you are saying.

I just did research on ezinearticles and it does appear that I can put in a link in my resource box. So, I was wrong. I will try this in the future.

But you said that the resource box is the *only* place you can put links, but I have been able to successfully put links in the article body several times in ezinearticles. For example look here. I am trying to optimize for the key word 'Hotel Hesperia Madrid' and the link works fine. Wouldn't this count as being in the body?

You can put links in the body, but they can't be self serving; they can only provide information. Why give them a way to leave your article? Just give them the information from the link in the article. Your article will be better and your CTR will be higher. Everybody wins! (except the USA in the World Cup)

I make my own youtube videos and like to embed the videos into my blog articles.

With that it mind, what article directories can I submit to that will allow me to embed my video in the submitted article? I do not want a link to the video at youtube, I want the video embedded so the people can watch the video from the article directory.

And what about images? What article directory allows the use of images in articles?

I honestly don't know, you'd have to start reading through their TOS. My guess is that not many will allow it, because it takes up their space. Can't hurt to try though.

Yes, 99.9% of directories have a resource box, and all article submission tools account for this.

When you write articles for other people, do you include a resource box or is that up to the buyer?

Just curious, because (almost) anybody can spit out the words, but few seem to be able to write a quality resource box.
