After weeks of procrastination I'm almost ready to launch the site I've been cooking up. ONly one detail really remains: tracking. I can probably get stats on page visits from my host, but just to be sure, does anyone know any (free) invisible service I can use to track how many hits I get to a page? I would also imagine that something that tracks clicks on my (self-made) ads would be useful.

StatCounter Free invisible Web tracker, Hit counter and Web stats should have what you need with a free account for the first 500 visitors per page you want to track.

Google Analytics can provide you with a free account that will tell you all sorts of things about your visitors.

To track your outgoing links why not use a re-direct from your own site ?

Then you can tell exactly what links on your site have been clicked.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you, this is very helpful. I was planning to use redirects for cloaking and some other stuff anyway, so that works out great.

Google analytics also provides click tracking. But it is hard to use with some sales systems. What platform are you using to sell your product?

I'm just making a plain-looking web-site and writing the html myself in notepad. As long as it works with plain old anchor tags I'll be fine.

Yeah. GA should work OK to get you started.

I have a much better tracking tool that I developed, it's in beta testing now, though so not ready to be used.

        It'll have a free version.
