What Motivates You The Most?

This is going to sound corney, but for me it's cash. I like the feeling of making money

How about you?

is it money?

is it success?

is it your family?

what's the greatest motivation for you during your lonely IM hours?

It's definitely a combination. I'd be lying if I said that money wasn't a decent motivator, but it's also not everything, although others may have different thoughts.....I definitely like the idea and feeling of having people read products that I produce...it feels good knowing that someone likes something I produced, AND are actually willing to pay for it...lol

My motivations have changed over the years.

At the beginning, it was money and providing for my family.

Now, it's keeping from getting bored. I can't just sit around twiddling my
thumbs. I tried retirement and it was fine for a while, but eventually, it
drove me crazy. So now I've gone back to working full days because I want
to. I enjoy it, odd as that may seem.

Will I always feel this way? Who knows? Maybe next year I'll tire of working
      again.

But I seriously doubt it will ever be about the money again.

Those days are, thankfully, behind me.

        Just curious

Yes, I had recorded 4 CDs in the first 5 months of this year (16 original tunes
on each) and quite honestly, I'm burnt out. I need to take a break from the
          music for a while.

Its a combination of they above, but mainly for me. This life is about choosing what I want to do and when I want to do it. There are so many different things you can do in this business that if one method gets old, you can always branch out and do things a little differently with just as a good if not better results. It never gets boring like the old job did.

Making money is obviously nice, but for me, there's alot more to it than that. After spending years working in a newsroom, missing out on holidays and birthdays with my family, having a job where I can work from anywhere is a definite bonus!

Plus, I like the feeling of knowing I'm working towards something. Instead of churning out the news (which is old by tomorrow!), I'm building something that's my own. It gives me a great feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day.

I also love the competition. SEO is like a big race. Everyone wants to be at the top. When I'm writing (either for my own marketing or for my clients), I always want the finished product to be the best, to beat out everyone else!

This doesn't sound crazy at all. Actually, I have had thoughts like this myself... either figure this stuff out or life is just useless and too painful...

I mean, imagine being stuck in a 9 to 5 job for the rest of your life. Call me crazy, but I can't bare the thought.

What motivates me it's the dream that I have to work from home. Get up in the morning beside my love, make something to eat, then work 2 hours in my bed on my laptop wearing my pijamas...then going out with friends and enjoying life...comec back in the evening and smile as I check my bank account...visiting other countries

Seriosly now it's the dreams, the vivid imagination of things to come it's what motivates me the most.

What motivates me? Family and money. I want to be able to provide for my family and I am sick and tired of living check to check and juggling bills. Also I kinda want to prove to my family that I can be successful doing what I love to do...my Dad doesn't consider sitting at a computer all day a real job, he calls it 'playing on the computer' and even to this day says I should go get a stable job in a factory like he did for 30 years. My ex felt the same way and couldn't understand why i would spend so much time on the computer and didn't believe I was working. I want to prove that I can make it my way and show my daughter that being a wage slave isn't the only way to live.

I did the 9 to 5. Got the house, the cars, the cash and was VERY unhappy. Why? Because I was makin the companies I worked for MILLIONS! Yes I mean millions ($2.4billion firm) and my projects had a ROI totaling 12 million for 12 projects. I could not bear the fact I was getting a small pittance of that. This time those millions are going to be MINE! Do or die!

Hrmm well there are several layers. What originally motivated me was having no cash after a car write off and my girlfriend moaning at me to take her on holiday.

The cash coming into my paypal is an awesome motivator when i am actually selling a product or making cash.

And making people happy is always a good one, whether its praise in product reviews or finally making my other half happy when i was able to take her to a carribean island

    Myself. :-)

I believe that we shouldn't do things for money, for the family, or anything else. We should do it because we feel that we deserve to have a better life. Of course that the family is going to play a good role on your success but to me the most important thing is to make it for myself.

Just think about it, if you put your success in the hands of other or if you need other people to motivate you what happens if they stop supporting you? will you quit?

Do it because you want, do it because you feel that you deserve the success that you want to acheive and then share your success with the family.

By the way I think that people that are driven by money don't make money.

I don't remember of anyone that has made money just for the sake of it. In order to be successful I believe that you need to have passion for what you do.

It is knowing that I have the ability to help people succeed. They have to want it for themselves and be willing to work but if they do I can cut the learning curve down to a minimum.

I hope to positively affect 1 million people in my lifetime. A big goal I know but if Tony Robbins can do 3 times that and growing each year, I can at least do it in a lifetime.

For now, paying my rent and my other essential bills. Later, put some aside for a rainy day, save for retirement and not have to worry. Going from 96K a year to 19K kind of kills you.

Plus, if I could get off the stress of having no money, would make me think and produce so much better. Trying to gear up when you are down financially is extremely hard to me. But, I WILL do it, lol

In the beginning, it is the desire to start a business.

Then when the business takes off, then you find you can help a lot of people with your expertise.

I never thought of internet marketing, but when you begin to find quick ways to become skillful, especially when you are not a technical person, and then you can share your ideas with other people and other people find your method so neat - this is big motivation.

If something is difficult and hard, it is not motivating at all.

Some quick shortcuts with REAL good proper results are really motivating.

To be honest , Most of what people motivations are about are purely egoic .

Money isn't going to make you happy even in a million year , It just gives you a certain feeling of false security that could fade any any moment this money stream is in danger or change , Hence this is why its emotional core is based upon fear .

Anyone who has the world within his heart will never be happy .

Money should be only means to an end , Make life easier so you could focus on the most important thing , The purpose of life and why you're really here !

Nothing spurs me like knowing that I am WAY more flexible, WAY better paid, WAY more rewarded and WAY less stressed than my friends.

Quite frankly, quitting my corporate career in order to search for an online alternative a few years back has been the best move I've made in my life.

well, let me just think about it,
      I think a number of things but to them in order of importance I think;
      1) The prospect of leaving my 9 to 5 and the freedom that brings
      2) A consequence of one is making a relevant amount of money
      3) A consequence of two is the ability to help others
      4) A consequence of three is the reward you get when you make a difference on other people's life thanks to your hard work

I'm just amazed every time I get paid for something that I did. It's not the money, it's the value aspect. It's that validation, where I go "I did this thing" and someone doesn't just clap and say "good job!" - they actually hand me money. I love that. It's the real, honest proof that you really do find value in it. You're not just blowing smoke up my arse, you put actual cash on the table.

And having the cash is nice, but knowing someone else actively agreed I was worth that cash is what really matters to me. It's feedback. So long as the money keeps coming in, I must be doing a good job.

"The Golden Town is the Golden Town no longer. They have sold their pillars for brass and their temples for money, they have made coins out of their golden doors. It is become a dark town full of trouble, there is no ease in its streets, beauty has left it and the old songs are gone." - Lord Dunsany, The Messengers
