Looking for free autoresponder for opt-in list

Hi, does anyone know a good free auto responder to use to build an opt-in list.
I've been using 'Freeautobot', but discovered it looks like some of the emails aren't being sent. I use a gmail account as the host account, but when I sent it to another email address of mine, I never got the welcome email. It wasn't even in the junk folder.

So looking for something that is free, works, and doesn't bombard users with adverts. Anyone using something like this?
Cheers
Mike

Mail Chimp gives you free up to 500 subscribers. I have heard they are very good. Haven't used them so I don't know. But people I respect have recomended them. I think it is Email Marketing and Email List Manager | MailChimp. If not, gry Googling it.

Aweber is great, and I'm also using GetResponse... you can set up different campaigns with plenty of auto responders, have access to plenty of statistics, surveys... it's a GREAT resource. They offer a free version as well as an upgrade that you can purchase, and their emails are pretty much guaranteed. You even have an area for your photos and media files!

    Hope this helps! Good luck

I know alot of people tend to frown on free autoresponders, but there is a relatively new one that came out called Listwire. It's run by Gary Ambrose, a respected marketer, and he says it's quality stuff and will ALWAYS be free. Check it out.

I would just invest in a good autoresponder. If you don't spend any money on anything but that, that's one thing you don't want to skimp on. Your list is your most valuable asset, and in this case you get what you pay for.

Ya I second everyone's ideas and sentiments here about the lack of features in free autoresponders not to mention the inconsistent delivery rates, your best to stick with paid services like aweber

Gary, I just set one up with Listwire and did a test and noticed the when I click the first confirmation email, I am redirected to a 'Make money online' sales page. Is there any way to change this to redirect to my own site. Pretty pointless otherwise, else i'm driving my traffic elsewhere

          Host your own!

          Try Infinite Responder - free
          Or Pommo - free
          Or PHPList - free

I think Pommo is the best (easiest to use). PHPList is most versatile but a pain in the arse to use and not intuitive. Use Infinite Responder if you need an autoresponder series.

          Yes I've used them all!

And I use Aweber too - it's horses for courses.

For a free autoresponder I recommend listwire

If you're going to pay for one (which I recommend you do) then I highly recommend automateyourlist.com it's uses the same exact software and support as Aweber, but cost a fraction of it. I wonder why more people don't use it or know about it?

Mailchimp is great! Free up to a list of 500 and 3,000 emails per month. After that it's pretty cheap anyway. Plus they have some AWESOME tools.

NEVER use a free autoresponder service. I think I'd be screwed if I put my 70,000+ subscriber list on a free service. iContact is fantastic, I love them.
