Anyone know how to cloak an affiliate banner link on a WP Blog?

Hey everyone,

I know how to cloak regular affiliate links. But I am not sure how to cloak an affiliate banner ad. If you click on the link in my sig, you will see the banner ads I am talking about, and they are right out in the open.

With a regular affiliate link, I use a php script. But how do you do it with a banner on WordPress? Thanks in advance if anyone knows!

    Use the Pretty Link WP plugin and change this...

    <a href="http://secure.hostgator.com/~affiliat/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=scrofford-"><img src="http://tracking.hostgator.com/img/Shared/120x600.gif" border=0></a></div>

    To this...

    <a href="http://successinfobiz.com/hostgator-coupon"><img src="http://tracking.hostgator.com/img/Shared/120x600.gif" border=0></a></div>

    P.S. You don't need the HG tracking if you are using GA or Pretty Links.

      Thanks so much for the help, although I have never used pretty link. I think I am missing something while trying to do this because its not changing anything.

        I was just giving you an example, just changing the text won't accomplish a a thing! Sorry about the mis-communication.

        Just download Pretty Link and then create your links to say whatever you want them to say. The free version of the plugin will do exactly what you need it to do and your links will look sweet. For example, I would make my Hostgator link look like this

        http://mydomain.com/get-hostgator-coupon

        Or like this

        http://mydomain.com/hostgator-discount

        The Pretty Link, IMHO is one of the best WP link cloakers.

            I am not sure what is going on but I can not edit my post and it didn't show the link it was supposed to. Anyway if you click on "promote" and add your tracking code then create hoplink, you should get a link that looks like this: 0ce99amkd92s7z73wfqi352u1h.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=WFP" So then you just replace your regular hoplink in your blog with that code.

              Hey Ozduc, Thanks, I actually did that. It only works with CB products though. Although not too worried about the HG. I can't really make the Pretty Link work with banner ads. I don't think it was made for that, although I could be wrong. Thanks again!

                Yeah, that only works with CB. I see you've changed it now.
                For the tracking ID in CB I usually use something that will reference where the ad is located, rather than just the name of the product. That way if you are promoting that product through different avenues, for instance different sites you have, or blogger, you can always see where the hops are coming from and which ones are converting.

    Hopefully this will work

    Currently you have

    <A target="_blank" href="http://YOUAFFID.comblue.hop.clickbank.net/">
    <IMG border="0" src="./Success Info Biz_files/120x600.gif" alt="$109,151 Clickbank Secrets -Click Here"></A>

    Take out you aff link: href="http://YOUAFFID.comblue.hop.clickbank.net/

    Now you can cloak this two ways

    http://bit.ly/

    Or

    Install GoCodes plugin for Wordpress it crates professional looking cloaked links

    WordPress › GoCodes WordPress Plugins

    Place you aff link in the cloak your link section: href="http://YOUAFFID.comblue.hop.clickbank.net/

    And you should end up with something like this with GoCodes: http://successinfobiz.com/go/commissionblueprinttwo/

    Now place the cloaked link in the banner code

    So you should end up with

    <A target="_blank" href="http://successinfobiz.com/go/commissionblueprinttwo/">
    <IMG border="0" src="./Success Info Biz_files/120x600.gif" alt="$109,151 Clickbank Secrets -Click Here"></A>

    Hope this helps
