YouTube Features Reserved for Who?

Does anyone know what all these super cool features are that YouTube gives to certain people that AREN'T YouTube Partners?

Links in the channel (that go elsewhere other than another YouTube Video), Custom image for channel authors. I am sure there are a few others.

Up until recently I figured... meh... YouTube partners get perks... ok fine. But I found a guy who has like 45 subscribers, a handful of friends and not many views... and he had all the perks of being a YouTube Partner... without actually BEING a partner.

So does anyone else know how someone would do this?

    Do you know for sure he's getting AdSense? If he's not, this probably isn't one of his perks. What else does he get that you think partners do and everyone else doesn't?

    He might have select partner videos like I do. I have select videos as a partnership, but my whole channel isn't a partnership. YouTube contacted me to put certain videos up for ad sharing, but not my whole channel. Maybe that's the difference?

    True. I didn't investigate too much but I do know when it was first released the YouTube video targeting tool was only for people who call up YouTube... Google... Yoogle, and ask them for access.

    Promoted video gives you perks. Being featured gives you perks. I too have had offers to get adsense on certain videos, and if you have an info product.... Shut it off now! It is pulling all the traffic you have invested in and going elsewhere.

    They will frequently contact smaller users that use the site a lot (even if they don't post a lot) in the hopes that one of their videos will go viral before they become a partner.
