Hello
I do not know whether or not I did right or true but I had a promotion code with godaddy and I purchased www.whatisediets.com for 1.17$

So I want to sell some online diet plans with commission junction and create a small website.

What can I do? Can you give some ideas to me?
What is right keywords in market samurai etc..

Thanks.

Tread carefully. eDiets is a registered trademark, and companies don't take it lightly when you use their trademark in your domain.

Trademark issue ... whatever you do could be all for naught if ediets goes after that domain.

Call Godaddy, tell them you registered the wrong domain and you might get a refund.

Unless you have an "in" with ediets, I'd drop it like a hot potato.

The key is to not cause confusion whether or not your domain name is the property of the official eDiets website. It's perfectly legal to register a domain name with a trademark in it. For example, paypalsucks website is still operating after paypal threatened them to take legal action, because it's clearly distinguishable which is the official paypal website, and that company wouldn't make a website just to bash their service.

I think you come too close. If yours were edietsreview, IDon'tLieEDiets.com, no problem. But Whatisediets could be taken to be the comapny talking about itself very easily.

As they say, better safe then sorry. So, go for it, but don't put too much heart into it.

The term ediets has 3-4 registered trademarks - that's fact. I wouldn't use the domain you registered but it's your choice. Just understand there can be consequences. You might build a site only to have to take it down.

It's worth taking the time to do a little reading about trademarks and copyright to have at least a general idea of what the terms mean and what they refer to. It will help you avoid pitfalls in the future.

What is true is that none of us are lawyers.

I think you are going to have a really tough time because you are talking about diets in general - so in this particular instance I would advise to steer clear. It is going to be tough to clarify to the consumers the difference. It will be more work on your side to appease ediets enough that they don't come and take your domain away should you happen to get spotted by them.

Again, I am not a lawyer.

ediets, if they defend their trademark as vigorously as many companies do, at the very least can send you a cease and desist letter. They can also sue you if they want to.

The example above (paypal.sucks) is a fair use example and not relevant, since fair use is for non-commercial use and you will be using it commercially.

You should delete this domain or get a refund and get another one. Why build on something that can be taken away in a heartbeat. Someone owns that name ... ediets. Your best bet is to stay away from trademarks, no matter what people tell you.

Why would you want to deal with a possible legal headache for a $.99 domain name? It sucks, but I'd let it go.

I'm with avenuegirl. Try calling godaddy and tell them you registered the wrong name and see what they will do for you.

I own hughesnetripoff.com but you won't see any ads on it. It's there because it is a real story of my miserable experience with HughesNet.

I am not sure. If the domain is whatisdiets.com, then I have to say that it is a catchy domain name. But with "e" in your domain, many people may get confused because it is really similar to whatisdiets.com.
Of course, if you have interest in it, you can still try to create one site with Diets niche.

Not having spent 100's of hours creating content and backlinks just to be forced to take it down: Priceless
