The problem with this is it's false advertising. You can't call something "Free" if you have to spend money to get it, even if it's a free bonus with a paid product.

Ask Brussell Runson about his Microcontinuity stuff. Turns out the FTC doesn't like for you to say "Free Plus Shipping" when it's really "Not Free Unless You Are Buying A Free Trial To A Thing". That's not Free.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen all the time. It's just not legal to do. Up to you if you want to risk it.

A proper way to do it would be to state clearly in the headline that it's "learn X free when you try Y for Z% Off!"

EDIT: I wanted to add - the salesletter as listed may not be problematic - it would be if you used ad copy to promote the offer that say "X FREE" when that wasn't the case at all. It's usually referred to as "bait and switch" marketing.

Fair warning: It's possible I'm arguing with you because I have nothing better to do.

You should just call him "the sprout" and snicker at how nobody knows WTF you're talking about.

That's not dyslexia, that's a spoonerism! It is more likely to happen if you are drunk or VERY VERY tired!

      Hi Colin Theriot

      Thanks for the advise
I make this post as I receive a "guru" marketer that lead me to such a sale page.
      Personally I feel "cheaped"

Just wonder if this kind of sale tactic will convert as this "guru" marketer is doing this lor

    Hi CurtisN

Sorry for the "bad" English, I have rephrased the post

I have lost the link to the site as I have deleted the email that promote it.

I think it had something to do with Russell Sprouts, who offered a "free" CD then charged a shipping and handling fee. You can't call it free and then charge for it I guess. You might have to check with Mr. Sprouts to be sure, or maybe Daliban Carklock knows more than he's saying.

I feel that I don't like it at all. $903 off, seriously? Bait and switch is a VERY short-term way of selling, you may get some customers sure but chances are if they are daft enough to buy in they will probably do nothing but send questions and problems in emails or tickets and call in to get advice on a consistent basis until finally requesting a refund the seller is actually happy to give just to get them to go away.

Wow, now THAT'S a run on sentence right therr'
