What Single Opt In Mailing List Solution Do YOU Use?

Dear Warrior Forum Members,

What SINGLE OPT IN mailing list solution do you use?

I have a double opt in account with Aweber already. That's what I use for all of my lists.

I now need a single opt in account.

This will be part of a leads funnel where initially we want to capture as many emails as possible. No names, no phone numbers, just emails. They'll go through a process where eventually we'll get their legitimate contact info, mailing address, etc.

So the initial part of this funnel I need single opt in.

I'm not going to argue single opt in vs. double. I use double opt in primarily. For this one project I need single opt in.

I've read some of you suggestions in other threads:

Sign up for a second Aweber account and keep it single opt in
Sign up for Get Response
Sign up for Email Aces
Host it yourself

What solution do you use? Or what solution would you use if you wanted to setup single opt in?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond thoughtfully.

I personally just switched from AWeber to GetResponse and I am very happy that I did. Single opt-in works fantastic with GetResponse and their system is very easy to use and setup.

The only thing I miss about AWeber is the amount of web forms they offer; GetResponse only offers a few and they are very generic looking.

Aweber actually allows you to do single optin. I forget where exactly it is because I haven't used them for a bit, but the do allow it. You have to click on a certain button and then it asks you if you want to shut down the double opt in. Just do some searching around in there and you will find it.

You can find it on the list settings page, step 2 (where the confirmation email is at). Click on the ON icon (you get a warning message) and that will make the list single optin.

    Thanks,

With Aweber, you cannot change to single opt in once your account is set to double opt in. You can only do single opt in if you chose that at the beginning.

I would have to create another account to do single opt in. The new account would fall under Aweber's new pricing model which would get very costly on this particular type of list.

I am still open to the idea of using Aweber but I want to explore all options before setting this up.

To all of you saying Aweber why do you think that solution for single opt in would be better than Get Response or Email Aces or some other alternative?

I used single opt-in with Aweber for a while, eventually they contacted me and told me they were switching all my lists to confirmed opt-in. So you can't guarantee your Aweber account will always be allowed to remian single opt-in.

    Try Imnica Mail

My first list on aweber was double opt-in. After a few weeks I switched it to single with no problems, even though everyone here said it couldn't be done since I was originaly double. Every new list I start is defaulted to double, and I go in and change them to single w/o any problems.

Then please tell me HOW to convert my account to single opt in.

Aweber has changed a lot over the years. The requirements are different now. The interface is different now. Please tell me HOW to do it using today's 2010 Aweber interface.

    I purchased Auto Response Plus
for my single Opt-in Lists which are
    basically Crash Courses.

I then persuade them (bribe them)
before the end of the course
to sign up for one of my confirmed Aweber lists.

It keeps me from getting confused.

      Hi Larry,

      Thanks for your response.

How effective have you found the Auto Response Plus software to be? How do you host it? How do you ensure your emails keep getting delivered? How big is your list? 10,000? 100,000? More?

My concern with using my own software is that the ip will get blacklisted, my host will get upset, etc. How do you get around those issues and ensure your email get's delivered? What host do you use? What type of hosting plan, vps, dedicated server setup do you have? Do you move the host occasionally or change the domain to get around the spam filters?

My situation will be very similar to yours.

Email Opt In for Special Report
We want to maximize response at this point to get as many people into our funnel.

      Special Report/Autoresponder/Free Trial
We use all these methods to encourage/bribe users to give us their legitimate info and get deeper into our sales funnel

I'm also doing some affiliate type stuff so I'm hosting this list for a lot of other people and putting in their affiliate id, name, phone, email, etc into the messages so it looks like it's coming from the affiliate, not me. I know I can do this with aweber custom fields and already have that working but the list it's working with now is double opt in and i'm not getting the confirmation rate I want.

  • Aweber. I think only old accounts are allowed to do single opt-ins.

This is what my Aweber account says under "List settings" and "Confirmed Opt In"

    Confirmed Opt-in Status

All subscribe methods require Confirmed Opt-In to ensure only recipients who have specifically requested to be on the list are subscribed. This means you have proof someone opted-in, fewer unsubscribe requests and far fewer spam complaints.

Since Aweber is so finicky, let's go back and state my question to exclude Aweber as an option

What Single Opt In mailing list service would you use OTHER than Aweber?

Imnica Mail is worth checking out.

Good price, very good actually. And you can choose single or double optin no worries.

I do use aweber too.... and it is a pain that you can't change your list to single optin once you already have subscribers on that list that double opted in...

I did find a service called webbyemail... which was super cheap... problem was... my emails through that service went straight to people's spam folder... so... back to aweber for me.

Thanks all I appreciate your responses. It gives me a lot to think about.

Do I just stick with confirmed opt in with aweber which is what I've been using all along or do I try single opt in with another provider.

I think I am going to stick with confirmed opt in for now.
