Taking The Plunge need Some WP advice

After learning so much from everybody here, and putting into practice ONE marketing strategy until it worked, I am finally getting my Internet business off the ground. As of July 5th I will be spending the majority of my working day and night devoted to building and promoting my business.

Now it's not that I have only used one program or ebook. Far from it. I have spent entirely too much on this program and that program. Couldn't for the life of me figure out why none of them worked. I had visited here some time ago, before signing up as a member, and one thing I saw everytime when a newbie asked what to do..all of you said one thing loud and clear "work a program till it works for you".

I went back to some of the ones I had purchased earlier and started really implementing them. I came back here just a few months ago and received some great information from you on free ways to make money as well as the many different techniques. Together this information with the strategy I was using not only has been working, but working consistently.

Currently I am working on a few articles to place in the blog as well as EZA and GoArticles. I have my social marketing plan in place as well. I am not installing Aweber and offering a newsletter for about 2 months.

Now I am using wordpress and have some plug-in already in place. All-In-One SEO Pack, Google XML Sitemaps, and of course "What Would Seth Godin Do"

Any other essential plug-ins I need to look into?

I posted this elsewhere, but it was just a couple days ago so it's still true.

SEOPower - automatically takes keyphrases in your google referrals and turns them into tags which it applies automatically to all relevant content.

SimpleTags - lets you pull relevant tags from other sites, as well as set certain keywords to autmatically tag new content that's created.

SEO Tweaks - automatically take out-the-box wordpress from 70% SEO ready to 99% (only
to install and run once on a fresh WP site, then deactivate - it conflicts with others)

YAAB (No longer available, WP-O-Matic is similar) - this pulls RSS feeds and makes posts
out of them. I give it Google Alert feeds to save as drafts, which I then either comment upon and publish, or delete, but it makes it easy to come up with niche specific content even when I don't feel like writing.

    Google XML Sitemap - duh

SEO Smartlinks - just like Simple Tags lets me create triggers to auto-generate tags based on the post's content, this plugin lets me do the same for links.

Pretty Links - this is for cloaking affiliate links under the blog's domain, plus it counts clicks.

Socialite - Lets me post snippets and links for my blog updates to Twitter, Facebook and Myspace

Those are the ones I use all the time on every new blog I make - there are others I'm experimenting with, but I like that setup really well.

Edited to add, those are all free, but not all avail. through the Wordpress repository. Google the ones you don't find there.

Fair warning: It's possible I'm arguing with you because I have nothing better to do.

plugins are great... but you just want to be careful you don't spend all your time optimizing your wordpress site and no time on the things that actually make money... like driving traffic

No doubt, which is why I am doing all the prep work now prior to Monday. Articles being written as I type this. Once Monday hits I'm hitting the floor running.

There are so many plugins that can really benefit your site. Just don't go overboard. Google analyticator is good for tracking your analytics. Sexy bookmarks is a nice and attractive little bookmark plugin.

SEO search terms 2 is a nice plugin that will add links to your post that people used to find it through the search engines. It essentially helps beef up the keyword SEO for the page by linking the search terms to the post.

There about 14 I like to use but if I were to get down to which ones would benefit you the most they would be:

    1. Only Wire Social Booking Plug-in

    2. Redirection

    3.Facebook Share

    4. FasterIM Opt-In

    5.Tweet Me Me

That other then the ones you said as well.

    Hope that helps

Thank you Robert and Jericho. And thank you to everybody else again. Much appreciated. Now it's down to some heavy writing sessions between now and Sunday to get a nice initial batch of articles for the blog and for driving traffic. I know the niche I am in is fairly broad, but at the same time there is a void which I am seeking to fill.

Thank you again for all of the suggestions.

      Hey Kenwrites,

Don't forget to delete any plugins you are not using too. Even though they are not activated, they can cause a potential problem down the road.

One last thing you should make sure is that you put an opt in box, preferably in the upper right corner to capture visitors. Use that in addition to the "faster opt in" plug in.

One of the things you really should emphasize is the opt in feature of your blog.

Everything should feed into your sales funnel which starts at the email list.

      Hope that helps!
