WP Robot VS. Wordpress Direct

Hey guys, just a quick question thats been baffling me for a while now and I would be so greatful if anybody can clarify a few things to me.

I notice that WP robot and WOrdpress direct are both autoblog software WP robot being onsite and wordpress direct being offsite like remote controled admin.

Wordpress direct is a monthly paid subscription and to me it does everything that WP robot does, but WP robot is a 1 payment and you get unlimited upgrades.

If I am correct are both of them functions of the autoblog wise essentially the same?

I know that WP direct offers autblog making on multiple sites while WP robot is 1 site at a time but this does not bother me as I am not smashing out 100s of autoblogs a day anyway.

Has anybody used both of these and can give me a comparison?

Thanks soo much for all your help!

bry

I use wp robot on my laptop site take a look Laptop Computer Spot I really havent touched it since I built it. I know with wp robot you can set it up to promote amazon, clickback, ebay, youtube videos, and i believe some articles.

I signed up for wp direct but havent used it so I can provide much insight on that.

I have used WP Direct with Ed Dale's 30 Day Challenge in years past. I found WP Direct to be helpful in setting up the site but the price is what got me. I didn't have the understanding at the time that I needed to justify paying that price every month.

Had I known how to set up the sites quickly, and had the ability to move on to the next and just build sites like gangbusters, then maybe, but I believe if you are just starting out, use their trial and see how you like it. The key is getting sites profitable so you can pay the monthly fee. I never got that far with any sites I made using the product.

My plan is to use WP Robot and pay once and use another website building plan to construct my sites. WP Direct themselves do not do much to let you know how to build it or get traffic to the site unless you paid for the premium rates.

I now have an understanding that there are different kinds of site set ups you can use depending on what you are selling, how to use plugins to get away from manually doing everything, and how to get traffic to my site. Armed with this information, I think I can do just about as much as WP Direct can offer less the monthly cost. But I am doing it once myself and then sending that work out.

Instead of rushing to use WP Direct, I would get an understanding of how to do it yourself and then do at least one yourself and then outsource it. I say learn to do it yourself once because you need to know how it's done so your outsourcers can understand what you want and you will know when it's not done to your specifications.

Hope this helps. I would pay once for the WP Robot, learn how to use it, and skip the monthly cost of WP Direct, unless of course you just can pay and want to pay.

I used the free trial of WP Direct and didn't like it. At that time, I also had my own hosting account and already knew how to set up Wordpress and create a site. IMO, if you use WPD, you're paying someone else for the luxury of making it easier for you not to learn how to use Wordpress.

And IMO, it is a luxury, especially when you're starting out. Regardless of the convenience, you're in the hole with all the monthly services you pay. At least when you purchase a plugin or a theme, it's only a one-time cost. Then, your only monthly service fees are your hosting (at a fraction of what WPD costs) and possibly an autoresponder mail service account (which WPD doesn't do anyway).

I was not happy with the themes choices at WPD. The one I liked was in German, including the on-page text. WPD support said "pick another theme." I also looked at the plugins they had available. Of the ones I would use, I could buy them for less than WPD was going to cost me to maintain.

All in all, I prefer the DIY approach. Learn Wordpress in and out and you'll never need to pay a monthly fee for someone else to spoon feed it to you.

WP Robot is worth the price. It's flexible and it works great. I think I've tried every free Wordpress feed plugin out there and hated them all.

Does anyone like Wordpress Direct? What are the advantages of using it?

I think it has value when managing large numbers of WordPress sites from a central dashboard. It will also help in quickly deploying lots of sites with a standard selection of plugins and themes. I've not used it since it was first released until recently however it appears that it has a lot of options that make life a lot simpler and easily worth $1-2 dollars per blog install. I have published a more in depth review on my blog but my first impressions after going back are positive.

I've had great luck with WP Robot3. Set it up, make your content solid and it works very well. I love the one time price, no monthly expenses beyond your hosting.

I am not sure. But it seems that many people are using WP robot as their autoblog software.

I already own WP Robot and am taking the 2010 Challenge. I DO like the idea of being able to manage multiple WP blogs from one centralized location. Is there anything else like that on the market?

There is: Wordpress Manager DX comes to mind as well as a couple others. I highly recommend learning to do it yourself. WPD is far too expensive long-term. And learning it yourself doesn't take that much time or effort. Just play with it, you won't break anything.

Thanks. I know how to do a lot of it myself already, but I did like the central management features of WP Direct. Other than the auto-posting and central management, is there really any other value to their service?

I have used WP Manager DX and whilst it definitely adds the functionality requried to manage blogs in bulk it is not even remotely close to the ease of using WP-Direct. There is also usually a small delay when a new version of WordPress comes out and have been a few problems with certain hosts. Having said all of that I have used WPManager DX far more than WP Direct so it is entirely possible that these problems will creep into that as well and I'm just not aware of them. Outside of this I've not seen any viable blog managers.

One option that some might consider is the that WordPress now includes Multi-Site by default, you just add a couple lines to activate it. With this in place you can easily manage hundreds or even thousands of blogs under a single system and then map domains to each blog. The main drawback with this is they will all likely all be hosted on the same server and share the same IP address by default. This could in turn cause some issues for people that frequently interlink between websites or play around with any black hat tactics that could end up tarnishing the entire network.

In response to @webatomic the central management and auto-posting features are the main selling point of WP Direct and whilst there are some other premium plugins built in their functionality can be easily replicated through third party plugins. Having said that if you are serious about running a profitable network of blogs surely a couple of bucks per blog per month is going to be a worthy investment in the amount of time that it will save. If you can't afford to pay it and you've been going for a while then it's likely a junk network anyway.

Thanks all for your experience using wp direct and wp robot.

I'm wondering for all of those out there that have used WordPress Direct in the 30DC and decided it was not for you. Can you easily port over the site to regular WordPress? Does it lose everything or do you just lose the ability to update?

WP Direct is and wordpress installing dashboard. WP Robot provides the content you choose in the website, 2 different objectives.

I've used both. WPDirect is supported in the 30-day Challenge and is a monthly subscription, unlike WP-Robot, which you buy outright. I prefer WP-Robot; it's a great plug-in and the support is amazing. Also, it is constantly getting updated with newer versions and more features. I'd definitely recommend WP-Robot.
