Wierd paypal issue with subscriptions - anyone else having it?

I know paypal did an update on their system sometime in the last week or two... and subscriptions have been acting a little wierd since.

First; one client's subscription payment failed... twice... and I received no notice. I knew it was coming in (the second approx date) so I checked it - saw that it had failed. On the day it was to try the third time, it failed so it cancelled. No biggy, I understand that happens (is automatic after 3 tries), and then it *did* notify me of the cancellation that time.

I put in a support request (via email) to PPal and mentioned that there was an issue with it not sending the notice of the payment failure... I very clearly told them it was not in my spam folders, etc. and I get this (probably canned) reply that told me to look in my spam folders, yadda yadda yadda. Not surprised really.

(And no biggy, my client resubscribed with updated info).

Now... that would be fine, except....

Two other subscription payments were supposed to come in today. In the past, they've always come in the morning, but in the past week or two its been closer to lunch time. No big deal.

This afternoon, I called to talk to paypal (about some other things) and also asked if they were having problems with their subscription system (since it was 4:30 p.m.). I explained the past issue and then that these two hadn't processed yet...

The support lady looked into it and said they would be processed at 3 p.m. PST (I'm on Eastern, so that's 6 p.m. here). Again - no big deal, I just noticed and wondered if they had issues.

Well it's now 11:12 p.m. Eastern (so 8:12 p.m. PST), and they haven't processed still.

Correction. One cancelled at 6:29 p.m. (our time)... but it doesn't say WHO cancelled or why. i.e., usually it says "cancelled by buyer" or cancelled by seller... no reason given (and it was the first try). That's fine, I've already contacted my customer.

But the other one hasn't processed at all.

Just curious if anyone else is noticing issues or is this just me? LOL
(And no, I don't usually watch that closely, but I *do* have accounting reports I was tackling)

    Well I'm just the opposite.

I bought a clickbank product for $47 and it posted to Paypal.
and came out of my Bank acount within 10 minutes
    But ......
I bought a One time offer also for $67 and the OTO after that
for $97.... at the same time.
So that was two days ago.

I received both clickbank and Paypals email receipts and all
seemed well. Order numbers and etc.

I have not been debited to my checking account or my Paypal
Credit card or my other credit card.

So I do not know where they got the money.
It sure did not come from any of my accounts tied to Paypal.

Actually it's been over 60 hours now.

I guess I'll keep checking for the debit ,,,,
but it usually shows up in less than 2 hours.
    Go figure

I wouldn't worry too much about either scenario. With over 100mil users, I'm sure they're getting their fair share of complaints and inquiries.

Thing is; with a system as complicated as PP's; when they do updates it usually takes them a couple days to iron out the unforeseen variables. Once, they had such backlogs with their IPN servers that transaction notifications (via IPN) weren't showing up for days at a time.

They're not going to admit that they're having issues because they figure its like the President doing a State of the Union telling everybody that there are UFO's; mass panic.

I'm sure they'll get it all worked out, soon. They always do.

      Well they're definitely having issues.

The one subscription that cancelled, was cancelled out of the blue by paypal. I contacted my client to ask if he had done it or if it was a paypal issue - he replied totally shocked that it had cancelled and said when he got notice of it he was racking his brain trying to figure out if he had offended me, because he thought I did it! (LOL)

So that one we know is totally a paypal issue.

#2 - the one that still hadn't processed last night... when I logged in this morning, it now said it would be processing on the 4th. No "failure" notice again or anything. So this time, I contacted my other client and asked her if it was a paypal issue or she just needed more time (so that her membership doesn't get blocked).

She said she had no idea this happened, there's no reason why it would have failed, her credit card is totally free/fine.

So we're definitely in for some fun times with their latest update.

Ugh technology. You can hate it and love it at the same time.
