What Are You Doing For Rss?

Title says it all really. Remember to state what platform you are using such as Wordpress or Joomla + any plug-ins etc.

Add anything you do to your rss, even the process if you will. It would be nice to have an optimised strategy here for different platforms of CMS for example.

What directory's do you use to submit to? Do you optimise your feeds in any way? Is there anything you do to get an edge from your feeds to propagate to more places etc?

Very interested to see if anyone has "perfected" this.

I used to use Feedburner for WordPress RSS feeds, until Google bought them. I still have it on older sites but I don't use it for any new sites I create. I just use WP's built-in RSS.

On non-WP sites, I just create my own RSS feeds.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I just love any RSS. Feedburner is my favourite. Have more success getting and retaining subscribers than any list builder. Great on blogs and you know your subscribers are getting all postings.

I have a couple of wordpress sites and a vbulletin forum. The feeds are stock with no modifications.

Over the course of several months I submitted my RSS feeds to dozens of RSS directories, and then checked my google webmaster tools to see if the backlinks showed up - and they never did. As a result, I have stopped submitting my rss feeds to directories.

Steve - you asked what directories I submitted to, I can not even name them all. I would go to different blogger and webmaster forums and just got down the list. Some of the ones that come to mind are rss micro, rss mountain, yahoo blog log,,,,.
