Hi,

I have a little issue with a video on YouTube and I would like to ask you for your opinion. I will really appreciate any advice or comment.

I uploaded a video I created to YouTube a couple of days ago. Some hours later, I saw the same video also uploaded to Youtube by another person. He/she use it to place a link to his/her website in the description.

I went a little mad because I didn't like at all to find my video "re-uploaded" to youtube by someone else. I think it is against internet marketing good practices.

Any advide or opinion?

I asked he/she to remove the video, but not answer.

Thank you.

  • Ultimately the best thing to do is get in touch with you tube and let them know what is going on.

That's what i do when something like that happens.

This is a violation of their TOS so more than likely if they are using your video, youtube will either suspend the account until further investigation or just delete the account altogether.

It still might take a few weeks but that's all you have to do.

    • Thanks Craigc.
I already did it. But not answer from YouTube yet.
  • just be patient, and they'll take it down. They're busy with the big boys and their constant battle with copyright infringement

    • Do not email youtube or the culprit - waste of time.

Log into your Youtube account and "flag" the video. At the bottom of the FLAG options it says infringes on your rights, and then another option to clarify it is a copyright issue.

If you know other Youtube channel owners that trust you, ask them to do the same on your behalf.

In the future, try branding your videos so as to not have a problem with idiots like these ever again.

  • I actually don't really care when this happens -- to be honst, I kind of like it!

It's free exposure and promotion if the video is selling your stuff. If someone thinks they're being sneaky by re-uploading a video I just laugh and let them go ahead, they're doing all the work for me. ;-)

    • You might be talking about embedding, which is normally a GREAT thing. The OP had his video stolen with no credit to him or his affiliate link (I presume). The thief credited it as his own, which will do NOTHING for the creator, unless his video is well branded.
