Successful link building strategies

Hi warriors,

As of late my tried and tested link building strategies are becoming less powerful, probably due to over-use and what was once "new" information becoming more accessible. Whilst my original strategy is still working, I need to find a replacement for when it becomes totally useless!

I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to share/recommend their experiences with any link building strategies or reports being sold as a WSO or elsewhere...

Thanks,

Ben.

What better works for me is:
    - Submission to dofollow Social Media Sites.
    - Post on dofollow forums and blog.
    - Article marketing.

Heres some other strategies for you.

      Try some of these.

Favor old, high ranking and authority sites with data available from Alexa, Compete, Quantcast, Technorati and other sources.

Link site should be listed at Yahoo directory, DMOZ, Best of the Web and other important directories

Link site should present indicators of social interaction at Delicious, Stumbleupon, Digg, Twitter and other social networks

Quality and number of outbound links should be considered with as much care as the quality and number of inbound links

Last cache date and datestamp should be used to determine the age of the link page

Use of language tags should be used when targeting links in other languages

The title=”keyword goes here” attribute should be included in the link html code when possible

Get your site listed at Yahoo. It will cost a bit, but it IS one of the best links you can get. Do the research necessary to find the most appropriate category, which is where the Link Relevancy comes from, and get that title and description optimized!

Get into the ODP. Do the same research as you did at Yahoo for the best category

Find out which of the thousands of specialty SE's and directories that your site is a good fit for, and submit to them.

Stay away from heavy link crossing, but relying instead on good site maps which addresses spiderability, not link pop.

Make a site-map.html. Build a site map within every site in the above list.

Make a link to the site map from each home page.

Submit to search engines. Submit your home page to major SE's if it hasn't been submitted in a while.

Look for linking opportunities within discussion lists related to your site's topic, but do so carefully. Try YahooGroups, which has thousands of topical discussion groups on almost any topic

Anywhere you can leave your link, do it. in chat rooms, guest books, etc. You would be surprised at where your link turns up on search engines when you start doing this

Search for a keyword related to your site and scan through relevant sites on the first page. Then just simply send the owner of the site an email asking them if they would put a link on their site and you do the same for them. Even offer them a little cash.

You can also use the blogs to create more links pointing to your website

Using articles will also build good links as long as the content is good and relavant to your website your linking too.

      Join the Better Business Bureau.

Get a link from your local chamber of commerce.

Submit your link to relevant city and state governmental resources.

List your site at the local library's Web site.

See if your manufacturers or retailers or other business partners might be willing to link to your site.

answer questions on Yahoo! Answers and provide links to relevant resources.

answer questions on Google Groups and provide links to relevant resources.

Submit a story to Digg that links to an article on your site.

      Use signature links in forums.

Create product lists on Amazon.com that review top products and also mention your background (LINK!).

Review related sites on Alexa to draw in related traffic streams.

If you buy a product or service you really like and are good at leaving testimonials, many of those turn into links. Two testimonial writing tips — make them believable, and be specific where possible.

Link to other blogs from your blog.

      Comment on other blogs.

Isn't there an easier and less stressful way of getting traffic to a site?

Good question. There are tons of ways but if they work or not is another story.

Just have to try them out for yourself and see if they work.

Paid ways for the most part work well and are fairly easy and quick.

Try video marketing. Pretty simple and brings in a good amount of traffic if done right.

Getting tons of traffic is just like owning a business. Takes time and patience to build but if you have both in place and the right mind set you could blow it out of the water

A good way to find new potential backlinks is to analyze the backlinks your competitors in google have.

Type in your keyword and use seoquake and yahoo siteexplorer to see where they are getting their links from.

Blog commenting is quickly becoming a useless strategy.

There are a number of sites that let you setup your own profile and blog. (HINT: 99% of the time the links in your blog posts on these sites are dofollow)
