    Hi there,

I'd definitely stick with Ezine Articles.

That's the one I've got the most experience with... Messed around a little with ArticlesBase, but I still think EZA has more power.

Maybe you could make a couple diff. versions of the same article (like write one and then just rewrite the same content in diff. words).... and then submit to both?

Why not submit to both? Submit to Ezine first, let it get indexed, then submit to Articles Base. The Ezine article will show up higher in the rankings, but you could still get some decent traffic from Articles Base.

That's how I do it, works well for me

Yeh its better to submit to both sites. Also try and spin your articles a bit so Google doesn't see them as duplicated.

Ezine articles appear to be the best and most popular. However, I realised that some social media sites online like propeller.com do not allow links from ezine articles. Depending on what your motives are, if you are just interested in submitting to article sites and nothing more, then ezine articles will give you the right trafic and exposure.

Submit to both plus about 6 other high ranking sites,
that way you'll get a steady amount of traffic for a good
      period.

Can the same article be submitted to all those sites?

In my opinion, Google likes EZA the most... but I think within the next year or so, the other article directories will start to have more clout...

        (ii) EZA are cleaning up their act, raising their standards, and being as "Google-compliant" as they can;

(iii) There's a self-perpetuating/automated component to it: the fact that people think Google likes EZA the most keeps many article marketers using them more than others.

They'll need to "get their houses in order" to varying extents: we'll see.
Many sites, that are similar to EZA, as I've noticed lately, have begun to do this. They clearly established themselves on rather weak standards, but it's definitely important that they do this in order to ensure the quality of their article database. Squidoo is facing the same thing....

Quality control is just one piece of the puzzle that will effectively engage online users, and motivate them to contribute high quantities of high quality content.

That's because Google's algorithms place significant weight on the age of a domain when it ranks websites. And EZA has been around since 1999, which I'm almost positive is longer than any other article directory except IdeaMarketers.com (since 1998), which has significant link juice in its own right. As does GoArticles.com, which has been around since 2000.

Ezine would be the first but might try submitting to both.

This is a no brainer. Everybody knows EzineArticles is the king of article directories! It might take you longer for your article to get accepted especially if you haven't sent your first 10 articles but once you're accepted and you did your research and formatted your article correctly targeting your keywords, then you will get ranked in Google.

I submit to both EZA first though...and my own blogs before I touch any article directories like Alexa said.

EZA kills article base in performance but for the effort it takes I like AB as a secondary traffic source and I love the auto approve feature (once you get a enough of your articles manually approved).

I post to eza, article alley, go articles, buzzle, and article dashboard. All different articles. I like Alexa's suggestion for adding them to my own site in the future. Certainly worth thinking about.

I personally have found that several of my links on article dashboard are broken, the article link themselves I mean, so I'm a bit wary these days of adding to that one.
