E-mail VS Social Media

there is then quite a lot of talk lately about how social media is the new e-mail marketing in the sense that instead of connecting to your subscribers through e-mail you have a better connectivity through social media allowing them to feel as if they are a part of your life.

What are your opinions on e-mail marketing do you think social media will destroy or dominate what e-mail marketing used to be.

I use both together. Social media lists are great, but the more contact points the better.

remember that you need to expose someone to your product at least 7 times from different places to enter in the "safe" zone.

    Why choose?

      Exactly right.

It's like having a tool box, and only using the hammer otherwise. It's a waste. I know your time is probably limited, but why not use all the tools you have. Each one is going to target, and be a bit more or less effective.

Two different things for me. There's not much interaction with email marketing and social media is all about interaction with people.

Both are highly effective but all depends on what you are using them for. If you want just sales then you may focus on emails more, to create online presence and promote your brand go for social media and engage user as much as possible.

Whatever you do -- get them to opt-in and then follow up.

Times are definitely a changing back when I first started out e-mail was the communication source for interacting with your customers.

Now as far as being able to interact with your customers even more an in-depth social sites such as Facebook twitter and so on has brought a whole new way of interacting into business.

I've not used Social Media for marketing so I can't compare between the two.

BUT... I'm sure email is not going anywhere anytime soon. So, for an answer to your last question, no, I don't think social media is gonna destroy e-mail.

I think both are all important, if thru email, you could get a report through Autoresponder, so you could probably fine tune your email strategies. If thru social media, you could probably track status, too. But I do not know if it's much effective as autoresponder such as Aweber.

      Hello

      No!

I think email marketing is always going to be the higher class of sales.

Don't get me wrong, social media is great, but how long do you think social media will be around before it starts dying out.

Email marketing has been around since the dawn of the internet being born and i believe it will be here to stay for a long time.

Email is a long way from being replaced and both will evolve, and im almost certain that, in the next few years both sides will push their communication channels to their extreme.

Email has a large untapped potential for more direct, intimate and socially rich conversations due to social media which just makes email marketing that much stronger.

My opinion- Email is here to stay for a long time.

      Alos keep this in mind.

How much easier is it to learn about social media than email marketing.

See that depends on the person.

Email is much easier to be yourself where alot of people in social media dont even know where to start getting people to trust you.

      Email is more simplified.

With a few great letters and a decent size list you can really do well.

Social media is a little bit more difficult. Takes more time to build relationships and people dont tend to trust you and buy things from you as easily as email marketing.

There is a problem with email marketing as most email clients have spam protection. Most probably your marketing email will go directly to spam folders of your recipient or they wont be able to read it because they are too busy checking and posting updates in FB.
I would prefer social media over email.

Both worked well with me. I used Social Media to create leads and build good lists. Use email marketing to contact them =)
With social media - You can create and build relationships with potential customers.

Social media is like opposite of email marketing, because email marketing can be highly targeted, social media is generally free but the audiences may vary, so when you talk about quality, they can't be the same

Email is also the only thing that stays constant between social media platforms. It is also needed to signup to things like Social Media.

Personally I think email for messages between friends is probably dead or dying. Email for business or marketing will be around for a long time.

But the smart thing to do is use both.
