Quick Google Optimizer question

Hey guys,

Really quick question about optimizer.

I have site where I'm driving PPC to multiple front-end landing pages... all going to the same "thank-you" page.

Since optimizer gives you a different code for each new test you run through them... do I:

1) Create a different thank you page for each of the various front-end landing pages?

or

2) Just stack all the different optimizer codes all on top of one another?

When you answer... really all I need is a "#1" or "#2" - I know how to do the rest

Thanks in advance!

If you will be sending them to the same thank-you page, that thank-you page becomes your "conversion" page in your optomizer set-up.

On the two pages you are rotating for the test, the first will have Optomizer code at the beginning and at the end, the second will have code at the beginning, and your conversion page will have Optomizer code at the end.

      Hey Don,

Well the thing is... I'm NOT doing an A/B or multivariate test. These front-end landing pages will all be completely separate campaigns (i.e. 1 for "perms", 1 for "highlights", 1 for "haircuts", etc.) <-- for a salon obviously

So... since they're all going to be separate campaigns, Google would then give me different code for each separate campaigns... right?

You can use multiple instances of the goal code on the same page.

There is a chance that could mess up your conversions if people could start both funnels, so whilst it is possible, it might not be the best idea.

A beter method is based off a cookie or URL parameter display an appropriate goal code, either writing it with javascript or php.

Hmm... ok maybe I'll just send them to different thank you pages then - might make it easier to track and all that.

      So..

Perm ad group -> perm ad -> perm landing page -> perm thank you page

Highlights ad group -> Highlights ad -> Highlights landing page -> Highlights thank you page

      Etc. etc.

It might be easier just doing it that way. More work initially but it's more targeted anyway
