Yes. I lost my job. It is for the best. But as of right now, I am worried, scared, and a little bit stressed out.

I hope to put my Internet Marketing skills to use, now that what's not working for me is out of the way.

Its good to be here.

Yes, I agree that there is money to be made. I also panicked as days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months and a lot of money was going out to pay bills and next to nothing was coming in.

To ease that panic, I looked for jobs that would help pay at least some of the bills. I had a mortgage to pay as well.

I inventoried my skills and thought that I could put them to work in copywriting and editing. I went through the Yellow Pages and made a list of ten local publishers and cold-called each one of them. Of the ten on my list, one responded with a "maybe" and another with an offer. I went in, took a short easy test and wound up with a temporary job.

But I didn't stop there. I looked for other gigs to get some money coming in. I even accepted a teaching job at a public school on a temporary basis.

Another possibility is creating a course to teach at your local college or university.

My point in mentioning all of this is that if you know you have some kind of income coming in, you gain more confidence and wind up with time to pursue an Internet business part-time.

I have lost jobs and experienced long periods of unemployment and I understand how scary it is. So I can't emphasize enough the importance of always having some kind of a job or gig lined up.

      To your success!

I know it's out of fashion but you might consider selling other people's stuff for them on ebay.

the proper term is trade assistant, I've made as much as $1k on a single transaction, although $100 would be more realistic goal.

    good luck to you

I'm quite familiar with Internet Marketing. Its perhaps the only skills I have that will help me in the next few years to come. It is by no means something I can brag about at this time but its something I want to develop as years go by.

I am GLAD to have lost my job. All it does is create a hindrance to my desired career. I've been doing IM as a hobby in the past 7 years. Its time to get serious.

Right now I have a good understanding (and experience) of

      Article Marketing (mostly I outsource)
      Blogging (Wordpress, wpmanager)
      Backlinks (authority sites, blogs, rss,
      Social Marketing (and bookmarking)
      SEO (onpage, offpage, mostly blogs)
      Paid Traffic (Adwords, MSN, Yahoo)
Paid Traffic 2nd tier (Miva, Ask, Looksmart, etc)
      Press Releases
      Video Marketing, youtube, submission
Many other odd ways of getting traffic (youtube, commenting, forum marketing)
Outsourcing (the article writing, web design, blogging)
Managing foreign workers, and putting together the work they do
Clickbank - putting my own ebook / information product on Clickbank
Affiliate Marketing - selling Clickbank product, cj
Finding / hiring copywriters, graphic artists, web developers
Setting up a complete product sales/launch process
      Setting up payment process
Setting up an email marketing campaign (aweber, icontact)
Making money on Adsense (made $30 today)
Making money on Clickbank (made only $26 last month coz I turned off traffic campaign)
      List building (aweber, icontact)
CPA - promoting cpa offers from hydra, neverblue
Media buys (when I can afford it)
Dealing with difficult customers in membership sites
      Facebook Advertising
      PlentyofFish Advertising
      Selling PLR products
      Selling stuff on Ebay
      Selling my stuff on Craigslist
      Selling my sites on Flippa

My biggest challenge is the fact that I actually am completely broke. So I can't really do much of the above considering it takes money to make money.

So I'm doing a little bit of the above, whatever I can, which is very few. But I'm also looking for an online job helping out online entrepreneurs who are in better business position than I am. So that (a) I can put my skills to good use (b) make some money on the side and (c) learn from him/her and continue build my skills.

It seems that you have a pretty good grasp of internet marketing. I can sympathize with you about funds being low, because when I first started I didn't have much money to invest at all!

If you are looking to make some quick money to fund other projects, as well as give you a little money to live off of, I would suggest freelancing some type of service.

You mention that you know article marketing, as well as social marketing techniques. Both of these services are in high demand, and you can at least make enough money to get you by.

I also agree with previous posters who have instructed you to cover all of your bases with regards to unemployment, etc.

Don't think of it as a loss, this is a massive opportunity. Sometimes people overlook the best opportunities in life, and this could be one for you!

I'd suggest targeting one skillet that you could really showcase and make some quick money on Elance to pay the bills - that's free at the very least. I agree with the others on applying for unemployment asap, and I seriously consider taking on even a part time position so that you keep your head on straight and are able to focus on getting your products and services more widely spread.

@iWork, first of all I commend you for being positive in the face of what happened to you.

It is refreshing NOT to hear the usual "begging" attitude for people who come into the forum with thoughts of quick riches and tapping the forum members to help them in return for nothing back to them.

It looks like you have many skills that you can implement right away for either fellow warriors and in the world wide web. You could immediately post availability of your services in the Warrior Services post area to start. I know you could get some jobs there.

I will pm you. I think I have a job I can send your way. It may not be much but it is something.

        Keep the faith....

I recommend working on something that can be done for free (don't spend any penny on advertising).

Look to do something like build a blog, learn search engine optimization and then you can progress from there.

Also check out some of the freelance sites. There's plenty of jobs for people even with no skills at all (not saying that is you) but there's plenty of work to be done, even if its helping people social bookmark their sites, write articles etc etc

If you have a specific skill then that's even better

Hi there iWork. I'm sorry to hear that you lost your job - I too was in your positiion not too long ago and felt a bit scared/stressed. However you sound as though you're a positive minded person and you'll rise above this challenge.

My advice from my experience is to go and get your unemployment benefit sorted first because that can take a bit of time. Meanwhile, don't get too overwhelmed. Looking at your skills you should have no problem getting some kind of part-time work helping people in the IM business. Your skills are very impressive so I would concentrate on 1 or 2 of them and offer your services to help others who are getting started and suffering from maybe "information overload". Just keep pluggin away every day - this business takes time and a lot of patience if you do it right - but from your positive attitude I know you'll succeed.

I'm not quite in a position to outsource yet - but I will keep your details safe and maybe within the next couple of weeks I can contact you for your help/skills to maybe do some backlink work for me. In the meantime don't give up on your goals/dreams. This business will work for you. Good Luck

Are you good at selling? What was your job title?
If so, there is plenty to be made in helping out offline businesses. Keep in mind that they have very little knowledge about IM at all, so you will most likely be able to help many of them.

Do some google maps marketing for them, webdesign, adwords, mobile marketing (I'm digging into that atm), backlinks, keyword research, DM design and strategy etc.

Remember to not underestimate your skills, or charge less than what you're worth.

    Good luck!

You will succeed, just don't give up on IM and don't try to learn every clever idea out there. Just stick with one plan, and see it through.

It does work and I know many of the people here will tell you this. The key is not to go off track and try to do everything at the same time. It is quiet boring in the beginning, but when you see the money in your post, it does get motivating.
