How can I place a copyright protection on an eBook I've written?

Hi all, I have written an eBook. How do I put a copyright on it, so that if others resell/modify/distribute it without my written permission, I can take legal action against them.

At least in the US, anything that can be copyrighted automatically is at the moment it's created. See http://copyright.gov

Fair warning: It's possible I'm arguing with you because I have nothing better to do.

Colin is right, as soon as it is created it is implied. However it is just in the U.S. and there seems to be little you can do if someone outside of the U.S. does something with your content, but contact their host to have it taken down. Seems to just be a part of IM these days.

Copyright arises when an object is created that right. Any unauthorized use of your intellectual property is punishable by law in all countries. You can prove their supremacy authorship simple way. The object of copyright send yourself using the postal service. The packaging will indicate the date of departure. Keep this parcel and does not violate the integrity of the packaging. If you do this procedure before a public presentation in court no one can fail to recognize your innocence (if your product is unique)
      Luck! Hope useful
