Are there any certifications in Internet marketing that have real academic weight that anyone has heard of? If so are there any that are distance courses that don't cost an insane amount. (thousands upon thousands etc)

Thank you

  • There are a number of Universities that offer internet marketing courses - I'm sure some offer degrees. However, from my experience with people with IT degrees, I wouldn't actually expect a graduate to KNOW anything about internet marketing until they've actually been out in the real world doing it for a while.

search google for online university internet marketing and you'll find a bunch of results.
    I doubt any are cheap.

    • You nailed it! Along with owning and operating my own affiliate network, I also serve as the campus director of an IT training school. The bottom line is that experience far outweighs the ownership of a slip stating that you have passed a test or two.

  • So you want a masters in internet marketing? This business is all about going in the opposite direction....

Don't you want to be your own boss? Only an employer cares about your degree.
  • In a word...NO! Those IM certificates aren't worth the paper they're printed it on, in my opinion. The information they teach you, you can pretty much find online for free. If you want to learn IM, in my opinion, The Internet Marketing Center has the best IM course around. And it won't cost you thousands of dollars.

  • Full Sail University offers a masters in internet marketing. This is an accredited university recognized by reliable accrediting agencies. I think it costs about $30K.
  • Currently - no
  • No really, but you can outsource some graphic designer to create you a fake one
  • My Paypal account, Google paychecks is my BEST CERTIFICATE, and I get them every month.
  • I believe most "real" offline courses are quite outdated, as the internet changes all the time. - Even if you take one, you will still need to stay updated all the time, so it will be of less value than the cost.

And the google certifications is a good tip. I'm going to get one now!
    - Both for myself and for my company.

  • If you going to qualify yourself as an Internet Marketer with a degree or certificate... you probably want to do it because you want a job.

And no real IMer wants a 9-5 :p
