Do you need disclaimers?

I have quite a number of Adsense sites in my portfolio and I wonder if it would help to have a disclaimer.

You see, some of the sites are talking about health and para-legal stuff, and I don't want to get into legal problems without a disclaimer.

So, is there a need? If so, where can I get it from?

Or get it from a lawyer who is also an Internet Marketer?

Well, I am not a lawyer so I can't give you any legal advice.

But I can direct you to the site in my sig which may take you somewhere you want to go.

I'm personally still in conversion mode where I'm making sure every site I have will have some disclaimers on them.

One thing I noticed is there is no generic disclaimer I could use for every site I own as they are all different in what they offer or have.

That's another question that I wanted to ask: Will those disclaimer generator be enough?

Remember that there can be many loopholes in law...

Joseph, below is a disclaimer we use on our sites that provide articles, videos and the such related to legal matters. It was crafted about four years ago and has served its purpose.

Los Angeles Attorneys provides free articles, sound bytes, opinions and information related to legal matters. We cover virtually every aspect from, legal and financial to psychological and emotional.

Be advised, the information provided by Los Angeles Attorneys is general information related to legal matters. Since all legal matters are inherently different, for specific advice, we strongly admonish you to consult with a qualified attorney or lawyer. Our website is in no shape, form or fashion designed to violate any local regulations or state laws regarding the practice of law. Remember, legal information is not legal advice.
If you searched similar sites, you will find similar disclaimers. As far as CYA, Covering Your Anatomy, it is always good to have attorneys in pocket. I am a proponent of Pre-Paid Legal in addition to have attorneys on retainers. Sure, a lot of people talk bad about Pre-Paid, but the bottom line, when you have a membership, you can get questions like this answered straightaway.

Because in the end, the only person that can properly answer that question is an actual practicing attorney familiar with Internet Law.

Yeah, I know some of the warriors here are practicing lawyers so I'm waiting for their reply...

I think for my sites I'll just need TOS, right?

Joseph, asking if you need disclaimers is like asking if you need condoms.

The answer is no only if you're prepared for the possible consequences...

[quote=Gordon Hay;2315371]I get all my legal documents from Website Disclaimers|Disclaimer Generator|Privacy Policies
        Hi there Gordon,

I'm new to the forum - the name is Matthew Cleary, guru grimmer is my nickname and about to release a course teaching people how to do everything from deep meditation (and I mean the real deal) to setting up an on-line business - but the last challenge for me was getting my legal documentation. : /

I went elsewhere via a link in a well known marketers Disclaimer and found a similar software from a large company selling for $197.00, and that didn't include copyrighting the e-books!! : O

What you have posted is an absolute God send for me : ). All I want to do is add value to people's lives and it's getting more and more expensive to even begin (not that I can complain too much, it's much cheaper than setting up shop).....I hope this software will do the job..at least until I can afford a lawyer.

I am a little concerned still whether or not I can totally rely on what I'll be receiving with this software. Can you vouch for it from personal experience...have you ever had someone try and sue you and not succeed because of these documents? I only say this because the site didn't seem to have a disclaimer for itself....that seemed a little contradictory.

        Many Huge Thanks,

        Matt (gurugrimmer)

After 2 years 3 months of research... I found alternative's for essential tools (like gotowebinar, camtasia, survey monkey and many more) that are just as good as the ones you've heard about, but cost a ton less! So good even Guru's like Mike Filsaime have used and recommended them. Click here to find out what most insiders know but don't tell...
