Why 95% of People Fail (and how to stop failing!!!)

I think the biggest obstacle for 95% percent of people is an unwillingness to change their thinking. When you keep banging your head against a wall, it starts to hurt, yet some people fail to realize they can:
1. Find a rope and climb over the wall.
2. Dig under the wall
3. Chisel through the wall
4. Blow up the wall
5. Walk down a ways and find an opening in the wall
6. Build a catapult and fly over the wall
7. Ask someone on the other side of the wall for help
8. Team up with others on the same side of the wall, and work together to break through.
9. Build some steps that allow you to walk right up to the top of the wall (feels good at the precipice by the way)
10. Locate a place where there is no wall, or where the wall is lower and easier to get over
11. Start teaching classes on getting past the wall, and hopefully one of your students will help you over the wall as well.
12. Knock on different places on the wall and see if there is an echo. Maybe you can find a weak point.
14. Use the wall to write down your ideas that will implement soon to get you beyond the wall.

So... let's stop hurting ourselves and open up our minds to how we can get over the next hurdle (wait, hurdles is a story for another day; let's stick to walls.

    Some great advice here.

I had an uncle that was a brick layer. His name was Uncle Vinnie. All day long that's all he use to do was build walls. Brick walls. Day in and day out. Wall after wall. That was his job.

One day Uncle Vinnie got laid off. There was no more work for him. No more walls to build.
He didn't know what to do with himself. He sat around moping most of the day. He mostly watched Oprah and ate bonbons and felt sorry for himself. He sat around for about 4 years watching TV and eating bonbons.

To me that was Uncle Vinnie's personal wall that he had to get around. And for a man that had spent most of his life building walls it was a tough thing to do.

Then one day an idea came to him. The idea was to build brick fire places. Short walls. And he took the idea and ran with it. He opened his own business and it took off.

It was the smartest thing he ever did.

Though I wonder, if Uncle Vinnie had been in demolition instead of brick laying, would he had got around his personal wall a lot quicker?

Certainly something to think about. For me the problem is usually finding the rope or the shovel. I have the desire to break through the wall, I just haven't found the tools yet.

I can see the usefulness of your analogy but might it not be better to think that there's no wall in the first place?

There's an amazing amount achieved by folk that get into any venture and succeed because nobody ever told them that it would be hard. They simply proceed believing they'll win because they haven't conceived the idea of obstacles. If they do hit one, rather than it being a shock, they're more likely just to take it in their stride and deal with it.

      There is no wall.

Absolutely, and I think that is the other 5%.
When we can see life as free and wonderful with opportunities to grow (rather than seeing the problems) we can look back and see how far we have come, and a few were fortunate to get it right from an early age, though I can't say I was one of them.

I want to say that everyone has "walls" in their life that are preventing them from going to the next step, and identifying what we need to learn (the wall) to get to that next step is very important. Then we can fashion the right plan for getting past that challenge.

Yes, but think about something like the current state of our economy. It is easy to simply say "there are no walls", but making such a realization does not adequately help us achieve a better result. A another example is the "Power of Positive Thinking". To achieve a better result, saying "just be positive" may cultivate the right frame of mind to lead us to the result we desire, but to actually think about the different ways we overcome the wall is innovation.

      Exactly!

I think of problems and obsticles abit like how a Parkour practicioner thinks of walls and objects... train and practice to get past the obsticle as "quickly and efficiently" as possable. By either going over it, under it etc.

Also a KANO lyric i heard in his track "Layer Cake" (AMAZING SONG BTW, ITS ONE OF THEM TUNES THAT MAKES ME KEEP IT ON REPEAT FOR HOURS)

Well yeah Kano's lyric goes "Theres always an obsticle, just move left... but the stress aint optional"

Other "off-topic" bars i like in that track :

"Im just trying to see the cream in the middle, thats the money i aint just speaking in riddles, i dont wanna see past times dealin' a little, i dont wanna see hard times stealin' in Lydls"

      and

"Cos im in a industry-man, in eng-a-land, where i never sell more than a indie-band, you dont even wana know the ins-and-outs, but let me tell you how its goin-down"

Seriously - Listen to the Layer Cake, if you know what "The Layer Cake" is, or even if you don't you will love this tune.

Another reason why probably 95% never become really successful with IM or any business for that matter, is because they are not entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurs have inborn traits which others do not. Some were made for basketball, some an accountant, and some are entrepreneurs.

Some people just need to face the facts there weren't cut out to be an entrepreneur. This doesn't mean you can't make money, but it will be more difficult and the person with inborn traits and talent will usually have the advantage.

Guys the reality is we can think what we want and it normally filters through in how we feel. The hard facts and why 95% of people in MLM fail is not because of their way of thinking - as I feel that everyone who steps into this arena has some leadership skills in general but ultimately you need the right tools and system to help you stay afloat right? So wall or no wall - I would have to say that your destiny is determined by your tools and skills of those around you? Up for discussion!

Continually banging against the same wall is similar to the conditioned response story of flea training.

Fleas have an amazing ability to jump. But if placed in a covered jar or box (that they could easily jump out of if there were no cover), they will bang into the cover for a period of time and then become conditioned to no longer jump so high. At that point you can remove the cover and the fleas will not jump out.

When you keep beating against the same wall you eventually wear out, get frustrated, and then quit. All the while you should be following the advice of this post and looking for a way around the wall. There are always options and other ways of achieving results.

Education and a willingness to ask for and accept help can be your wrecking ball to crash through the walls that are holding you back from your dreams.

Good thinking, love your options ! You are right, I have noticed that most people are afraid of changing their lives. Somehow THE CHANGE is scary. Why ? Even people who are in most difficult situations don't seem to find the courage to do anything to change that. I am talking from experience here. In my marriage I was "captured" in violence. I was with this man for 10 years and the violence was there. Not all the time, but too many times over those years. Yes, of course I realised I should leave, but for some reason I was frozen. Until I took my life into my own hands and walked away. No, it wasn't easy. But what happened ? The Change was definately for the better. I found Me.
In any situation, most of us are afraid of the unknown, what comes AFTER, the Unknown, if we dare to change anything. Most of us don't realise the power we actually do have to make what we want of our own lives. We are too many times "under" somebody else's power, that we don't dare to try. Sometimes I have been called selfish to think like this, but hey... Who is the most important person in your life ? No, it's not your son, daughter, husband, wife, mother... IT'S YOU. You have to care of yourself first. If you are not ok with yourself, you CANNOT give anything to anybody around you. A Fact. You can try, but very soon you drown...
So, dream, believe in yourself and keep trying. If something doesn't work, change it. Life is too short to "keep banging your head against the wall..."
Stay active, don't be lying on the road to be driven over. Enjoy yourself, appreciate yourself. Love yourself ! Then you can enjoy, appreciate and love others !
    Have a splendid day people.
