Is the "Limited Quantities" Line Still Working?

With people being more skeptical about products they buy on the Internet, have you found the "Limited Quantities" or "Get It While It Lasts" type of lines to still work - when it's obvious it's a digital copy that could be downloaded billions of times?

    • That's true - reputation-wise, though, I just didn't know how many people think of that before they write someone off as a scam.

  • Product Launch Formula is an example of genuine scarcity, sells out everytime.
  • Limiting quantity on a digital download can be tricky
because it triggers the very skepticism you've raised
in your post... but scarcity SELLS. That's a fact.

In the absence of a real and believable reason why,
it can hurt your credibility though...

One way to get around this problem is to tie the scarcity
to a price increase instead of limiting availability.

They can still buy _____, it's just going to cost more if
they fail to act quickly enough.

It's what makes dime sale pricing strategies so effective,
people often go bonkers over saving $10.

An event based strategy is also less likely to raise that
red flag in the reader's mind because... well... it's scarce
because of TIME - a live training event starts when it starts!

Anyway - my point is simply this... Yes, scarcity sells...

...but it REALLY sells when you do it right.

    • Limited quantities works if you stick to your word. It's about credibility and believability with your customers and target market.

I've developed a reputation for using firm deadlines when sales end or how units are for sale with no exceptions.

I've "trained" my lists and customers that I keep my word on product scarcity/special sale events so they quickly take action as a result.

If you do the same, it can work extremely well.

      Take care,

      Mike
  • Depends on what you are selling i sell PLR sites and limit them to 50 copies so as not to saturate with the same site. I have never had any issues selling them like this and as soon as i have sold the 50 i pull it from the market

Scarcity works but if it's a lie, customers will find out and it will damage your reputation. I bought someone's WSO who had a good reputation here ... I bought it because he said 25 copies would be sold ... total. He then sold to his list as well as continued bumping to bump it here well past the 25 units sold limit.

I will never buy from him again and I've never used the product that I paid for because of the saturation of the market that wasn't supposed to happen.
