Please....Do TRY THINGS for YOURSELF, rather than Always listening to others!

The thing is that I see alot of newbies take on and 'act' on too negative advise that other people have given to them, such as:
  • other peoples Warrior posts,
  • other peoples free ebooks info,
  • other peoples suggestions etc.

and at the same time these newbies reject/stop using the other peoples suggestions too, as that person 'advised' them not to do so.

The important point is that you should sometimes try things that somebody says didn't work that well for them.

There are many factors involved, niche, traffic source, time of the month you apply it... + many more,

Then again this statement can also be argued on the basis that:
"certain things have proven to have worked in the past, and will continue to work"

But the bottom line is that you have to try everything for yourself, and it might even work for you! Just because they had less success than they hoped, does that mean the same can happen for you? - as you wont be using the same strategy as them anyway.

Besides, in all of these opinions, what is the true definition of "doesn't work" ??

    • Good advice Matt and something I have been trying to do. The theory works in reverse too of course - one person's golden technique can be someone else's waste of time.

I try anything that seems worth my time (and some that don't) to try and figure out what works for my particular niche.

Sometimes it can be just one tiny nugget of advice from someone else that ends up being very worthwhile.

I don't consider anything I do to be a waste of time, I always learn something even if it is method number 956 to not make money in IM.
  • I used to be so guilty of this! I would be all for trying one method one minute. Then, I'll read one negative post about it and go "nope, that's OK..." and move on. Just because of what ONE PERSON said.

This is why so many Internet Marketers get stuck and don't take action. We become paralyzed because we over-analyze instead of just doing it.

But once you overcome that, it's a whole new world!

    • I think everybody goes through this phase in some form or the other.
  • Yea I guess my statement can also be altered to "certain things have proven to have worked in the past, and will continue to work" so them things can be followed... as they work!
  • Nobody can know if they can write or not just by thinking about it. When you write you get ideas while writing you only get then.

Building websites, building links, creating products, all are much the same. No amount of thinking about it or hearing someone's explanation or experience will ever replace your own ability to see a new possibility in the midst of doing something. This is a natural human capacity.

I think a lot of people sit at the edge of action not trusting their own ability, which ironically, they can never know until they get up and dance.

It helps to do your own research generally and try to figure out what your natural skills are and develop those. You may be very literate, or artistic, or have great socialization skills. Do you visualize or analyze? Do you have numbers or pictures in your brain more? Leverage your best skills as much as you can.

    • Agreed! I'm guilty of this. I can be so confident in my business plan and what I'm doing, but once I get on here and read a thread about how something is not working/more difficult to make happen/etc. I doubt myself and all my work. Not good!
  • That's the downside of listening to too many different people, with different agendas and then doubting your own plan.

Sometimes it's best to just do it yourself, find out for yourself and ignore the opinions, (most of which have hidden agendas).

  • I have experienced it, in fact there are not of newbies who got more ideas of making money than you or me, but since they have never took action, they have no experience.
  • That's a good one Matt. Not everyone goes thru the same thing. Some style works for some while some doesn't. Just figure out which one works the best for you.
  • I guess the real meaning of "doesn't work" would be:

    That doesn't work (for me).

    or:

That wouldn't work (for me because I have something else that I know/believe works).

    And that this applies:

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  • That is very good advice to give. I fall into that category at times as well but the majority of the time I'm always doing my own thing. All the best.
  • I just found a quote from somewhere, it goes like:-
  • I like the way Master Yoda (of Star Wars fame) teaches it. If you take individual words literally, the message may get "lost" on you though, especially if you start splitting hairs on the fundamental meaning of the words "do" and "try" and so on.

    Anyway, Yoda says:

Do or do not. There is no try.

    Cheers, people!

    Regards, Matt!

    • I totally agree. Just do it and when you fall, stand up, learn from your mistakes and go on. I started without reading any ebook, I used my brain. Everything is logical especially when you start with content sites. And evenn if don´t do it perfect, you WILL earn money.

If you got it, read one or two good ebooks in that business subject, where you already earn and you can improve your already established business.

Stay with one business model, until you know to use it perfectly and you can outsource most of the work and then think about other ways. Keep your eyes open all the time, but don´t get distracted from your main business.

Keep on working and stop watching for new opportunities in forums every day. Don´t waste time, start working! NOW!

  • Does any one remember what it was like before the internet age? Was much easier to stay focused during those times, but seems like so long ago.
  • As has been said faith without works is dead but faith with works sets you free.

Or another good one from the Quakers: Pray(or think) and move your feet. Move into action according to your own thoughts. Heed your own counsel.

Only by moving into action can you find out what works and what doesn't. This action doesn't have to be based on somebody else's ideas. That's what the creative imagination is for. Creative ideas are God's gift to you, and when using your unique talents it's easier to attract and employ unique ideas without having to depend on external sources of creativity.

It helps to be inspired by others but learn to try out your own ideas or ideas that other people say "don't work", because many times they do.

If you have time try different options and then Test.
I only recently started testing almost everything and I think
    I am addicted.

    • Try your different options and test. If it works for you carry on.

If not reject it and try a different approach.
