That is a very vague question. People buy food because they need to eat. they buy toilet paper for a totally different reason.

Because it's better
Because it's faster
Because it's more expensive

People buy products that solve problems.
Men buy penis elargement products because of porn.

Nope, they all fit.Men buy penis elargement products because I told them they could get the chicks they just saw in porn, which I also just charged them for...

Seriously though, capital vices. Appeal to (at least) on of the overwhelming desires we as humans have (lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, sloth, pride, envy) and make it stick. Those are not the only reasons people buy crap, or course, but in my experience, those vices are easy pickens.

The hungriest niche there is in the entire world is...

FOOD!

If you can sell food to people all the time, you will make tons of money.

Get into the food niche because there's always a "starving" crowd. The food niche is bigger than the "make money" or "weight loss" niche, since without food, you'll die.

You can't eat an ebook, but you can always eat an apple. =)

It's basic human survival. =P

Your experience may be related to the niche and the class f buyers. In most cases people buy when there is a real need. People spend money when they cannot get the product or information free of charge. It has nothing to do with emotion.
