STRUGGLING to be a "SUCCESSFUL" Internet Marketer? Slowly Beginning To Think It's Not Worth It?

I usually post in the Warrior Joint Ventures forum but today came across the main discussion forum,

thought I'd jump in and procrastinate

I've been in the Internet Marketing Industry now for over 10 years, and have done everything from making no money at all to conducting $100,000 product launches.

I've seen the worst possible disappointments when I first started out in Internet Marketing, and financial losses, to the best possible (for me) profits from even single product sales online later on when I'd learnt a few more ropes.

Throughout this journey I have learnt many lessons about how to get prospects, but more importantly, how to "keep" prospects and convert them into buyers later, something I have worked hard to maintain and improve every day and can safely say that it is the BACKBONE of all my niche businesses today.

I know it's unfair at some level to expect everyone to carry out the insane amount of work and efforts I and many others did throughout this last decade, and continue to do today, but that makes me curious beyond anything about what other "newbies" or "newcomers" in my place are doing now like I was 10 years ago..

So, I've started this thread to hear about everyone's experiences in Internet Marketing, big or small, but ESPECIALLY from those of you who are:

1. Working really hard to build yourselves up and eventually make it big,

2. Doing everything you possibly can to succeed in this very competitive industry,

3. Have an exciting and zealous ambition to take things to the next level.

and it's perfectly fine even if your sole reason to be "starting out" in this industry is to

4. Make Money.

I want to hear about your struggles, hardships, achievements, awesome launches, everything.. Reason being that in all my time in the business, the one thing I didn't make time for was listening to other people's stories and learning from them as well as helping them.

I think this thread could make for a very interesting one and I'm really looking forward to everyone's input

Thanks for reading guys.

Cheers,
Ange

That font is outrageous, and has made it so I can't effectively read the post. So I didn't and can't comment.

That's definitely something I haven't heard for a while, but I can completely understand

Let me know if the new font suits you and potentially other people as well since you've brought this up.

Sounds like you're putting together an info product based on the answers you receive here. Sad thing is, this thread may turn into an "oh woe is woe is me" thread. So I'll not post anymore.

    Good times and fuzzy bunnies

    Peace,

    Shane

        Sadly,

One of the things I think I missed in that post was the "skepticism" encountered in this industry as well

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but no, I'm not building an information product or have any other motivations unfortunately.

Do chime in and share your thoughts, not everyone's out to be cheesy and profit from a random rant on a Friday morning

p.s. I've now moved out of abnormal font-sizing, initially intended to make it easier to read (I wear glasses), to a more normal font.

That's cool - we appreciate it, obviously. If you need to adjust the font size to see, most browsers have a font zooming ability so you can make things easier on yourself without making it hard on folks who wear the opposite kind of glasses.

As Alexa pointed out, just like how writing in all caps is perceived as "shouting", in the warrior forum, nonstandard fonts is usually perceived as "marketing spam that was copy/pasted in". Easy mistake, easily remedied.

I'll go read your first post now that I can see more than one line at a time on my tiny netbook screen.

Here is a suggestion, why not go back and edit the original post so it is more normal, and then more folks might read it. The responses sounded like this might have been an interesting thread to read, but there was no way I was going to read your opening post as the font is so small. If I blow the text up then I just got to keep scrolling back and forth, and it gets to be a pain in the ass. So I just passed on reading it.

Or not, as the case might be. Just thought I would let you know.

      Thanks @timpears,

Apparently I left the [SIZE] tag in there when I was going to remove it earlier, text is now back to normal..

To anyone reading this and wondering how the author of this post is spending more time fixing fonts, please do go ahead and IGNORE my monkey-brained font-sizing and just read the post, comment, share

      Thanks,

    Hi contactscape

I have quite a long story, but I will share just some of it here.

A few years ago I wanted to start a business. Any business! As I wanted the challenge and freedom (and more money!). I spent a lot of time spinning my wheels trying to figure out what kind of business to start.

Being a software developer I am very interested in creating software and selling it - but seeing the success of Facebook and Myspace I was also interested in creating cool sites.

The problem is a single developer doing stuff in his spare time, my projects could never match the clout of the big boys ... and I had a bigger problem. I didn't know how to get traffic to my sites.

Desperate I googled things like "how to make money online" ... and I would be easy prey for any tom, dick or harry selling their product. Well actually no I am quite tight fisted and skeptical too! I did discover the rich jerk and at the time the thought that his $10 ebook might be a scam and I'd lose $10 frightened me too much so I didn't buy it. But I kind of believed him. I believed there were gurus out there making a lot of money online.

I stumbled from failed idea to failed idea. I had some very mild success in blogging but found I got more traffic from "spammy" style posts than from genuinely useful posts. I found it very confusing as to what actually works.

I tried the SBI course and learned about keyword research as a result. This was probably the most useful thing I have done and recommend anyone learn about it. The trick is the SBI course is free ... the hosting that costs $300 a year is not worth it. I got a refund after 3 months for the remaining time as a result.

Due to the lack of time (doing it in my spare time) and needing a shortcut to success i purchased sites from Digital Point. Some I flipped for a profit but not enough to justify the time and risk. I purchased a $10k site which has done well and has almost paid back for itself, but I also purchased other sites that flopped and I regret that, leaving me still on the back foot a bit.

I am now more interested in launching a product as creating ideas is what I like to do, but now I am armed with a lot more information and feeling of how to market the idea than I ever did when I started out. Much of which I think to the Warrior Forum.

There is loads I missed out but this is the jist of it :-)
