How do i stay on top of things IM?

Hello everybody! I am new to IM. Seems like everybody has a course out, so many newsletters and even youtube videos on Internet marketing everywhere! Everywhere! Just how do you keep on top of what's going on in the world of Internet Marketing? How do you keep up with what works and what doesn't? A beginner can get lost very fast with so much information out there.
What's the secret key on NOT getting lost and sticking to the information that works? Please help to guide me on the right path so i won't start wasting my time doing the wrong things.

thanks,

Nathaniel Wilson

Nathaniel, first of all congratulations for taking the first step toward financial independence and WELCOME to the IM world and of course to the Warrior Forum.

Now, you will certainly get a lot of different opinions on your question, particularly because every successful Internet Marketer achieved whatever they did in a ery different way and using different methods.

There are some important things I can tell you:

1- DO NOT spend money on anything without first reading reviews.
2- Do not fall for the "Get rich quick schemes". They are exactly that, a scam to get your money because we all know, no one gets rich overnight, unless of course they hit the lottery. Ask Bill Gates, he sure did not become a billionaire overnight. He had to work hard in order to achieve it.
3- Read, educate yourself, and start implementing as soon as you feel confindent enough. Always remember that the Internet is continuously evolving and so is everything associated with it. Therefore you have to be on top of things.
4- Keep in mind that what has worked for some people does not necessarily mean it will work for you. There is NO one size fits all method for making money online. So you have to try methods and keep what suits you and your personality best. Because after all, your personality is important.
5- I recommend you start with affiliate or referral programs. MOST are free to join, they do not require you to invest in anything EXCEPT for promotion of your affiliate products or referral programs. Once you start making money you can then consider investing in your own thing. You never know, you may make enough money doing this (as some people I know) that you may not find the need to have your own thing.
6- Do not take anything you learn or read from a Guru literally... Their experiences are meant to guide you and not to be implemented exactly. As I mentioned before, not everyone succeeds equally with the same exact methods.

Do not forget to always come back and ask questions. You have joined the best marketing forum and there are TONS of knowledgeable people here.

    Good Luck!

Starting out you will profit from NOT trying to be on the frontlines since a lot of the hot new tactics and methods tend to be experimental (meaning they still habe to prove their worth over longer time), expensive, heavily hyped and / or complicated and requiring solid experience to set into motion. Some hot new stuff may be very good but as a noob, go for the established well-known methods many of which can be run with no or very little investment.

If I have to make 1 suggestions for you: set 1 goal (not too big & not too far away) and stick to it until completed - regardless of if it gives you profit or is a failure.

In this business where there is so much hype, so many dreams, so many possibilities and endless methods.. setting goals and completing them is the holy grail. If you can do that, you can do anything.

    You are already there...the WarriorForum.

You can quickly glance the titles in each section to see what people are talking about, check out the latest things that are working and not working, check the product reviews section for the latest on software and courses and find people with tons of experience that you can contact directly to get their personal advice.

Impress this idea on your mind with a branding iron:

    Give Value, Receive Value.

You seek value in the form of pleasure, money, prospects. To get you must give value.

This means learning the basics so you can teach people how to make money, which will draw them to you. This takes time, energy and a great deal of focus but this is a prerequisite for anyone who writes their own paychecks.

I second the emphasis on copy mentioned above as well as not investing in a system. Treat this like a real job where you can make a fortune down the road. How would you do so? Not by running off and spending money on a program but my learning and mastering the basics of internet marketing. Don't spend a penny. Spend hours reading, digesting and learning the basics by visiting forums like these as well as blogs. Comment on blogs, get your name out there to connect with mentors who will show you pointers here and there.

I'm not saying that paid programs can't offer value but why not take the time to do it the way the expert does it. Master the basics by researching the heck out of IM, network with people in your niche and begin to brand yourself.

  • There is NO sure way of knowing what works and what doesn't. You have to slowly figure it out on your own. Especially since there are lots of unscrupulous people who will try to sell you a service even if they know it does not work. Unfortunately when it comes to marketing, online and off, it is pretty much TRIAL and ERROR. You read, you try, you fail, you say NEXT.

As Jenny recommended, never take any advice literally. Things do not turn out the same way for everyone. Some may have achieved more success than others implementing the same exact method, whereas others may have failed.

You are at the right place with regards to learning new things and staying on top of the ever changing world of the web. Read, read and read some more, but do not forget to put into practice what you are learning. Soon enough you will develop your own system of analyzation and will learn to identify what will and will not work, in whatever it is you have decided to do online.
