Hi Warriors...
Now this is a goodie - QUESTION: Whats the best way to encourage people to respond to your blog posts / leave comments => and begin an almighty discussion??

I'm wondering if any of you know any 'secrets' on how to achieve this... as when people start leaving comments and participating in your blog it creates interest in your blog and you know what that leads to...

Power on,
:-) Beaumont.

One way is to just ask them to comment on
your blog -- ask what they think. This was a
technique I used on my first very blog.. there
      was a response right away.

      Try it!

  • Mainstream blogs do this all the time...

They solicit freebies from companies operating in the field relevant to the subject matter their blogs are focusing on. Companies on promotion campaigns have lots of freebies to give away, anyway.

Once a company sends over a freebie, blogs use the same as a prize for a contest. Readers can have the chance to win the said prize if they'd leave a comment on the blog as their comment would serve as a "raffle ticket."

Sometimes, blogs impose further qualifications to make the contest fun. "Tell me why you shouldn't win this prize," and "what are you willing to sacrifice just to get this prize" come to mind.

As a case study, Wowinsider.com, a blog dedicated to the MMORPG World of Warcraft, fetches an average of 20 to 30 comments per blog entry. This isn't bad at all, as Wowinsider.com is one of the more popular sites for the niche.

But whenever Wowinsider.com holds a contest to give away an in-game item or even a neat physical product, the number of comments increase to about 2,000 and even as much as 6,000 or so on certain contests.

A 1,000% to 3,000% spike isn't bad, even for an established blog.

I'd say comment on theirs'! I get the most comments when I go and interact with people on their blogs. Another thing is to ask for opinions but I've had more luck with commenting.

I agree with the previous posts.

Write a subject that is open in discussion. Do not
write difficult subject because you want to impress
    the reader.
Write an easy subject so everybody can post a comment
and ask them about their opinion.
