A Warrior Forum member's little boy has passed away....please read!

In the spirit of "it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission" I'm posting this here. Mods, please move it to where it's allowed although for maximum viewing I do hope you'll leave it here.

I'm not sure if the WF community is aware of this, but Melissa Ingold's (WritingMom here on the WF, InternetMarketingSweetie.com, SpecialReportClub.com among other projects) little boy Kyle passed away in his sleep a few weeks ago. He was just a few days shy of his 2nd birthday.

He had been battling Gaucher Disease and she had been chronicling his progress on her site A Cherished Angel | Fighting Type 2 and 3 Gaucher Disease. He was expected to live several years, and was fine the night before but on June 19th he had passed away in his sleep.

The family is absolutely devastated. Melissa and her husband can't bear to sleep in their own bedroom because that's where Kyle's crib had been and where he was when he passed away. They've been trying to move to a different house, and their need for a fresh start is even more crucial now.

As if that wasn't bad enough, they are faced with an enormous bill for the funeral and burial costs. There's an effort online started by Kelly McCausey of Work at Home Moms Talk Radio to raise money for Melissa's family. While her page mentions a specific fundraising effort via the Mom Masterminds membership site, there is also a direct PayPal donation button that goes straight to Melissa.

The page with Kelly's fundraiser is at:

Fundraiser: Please Help Out A WAHM & Her Family | Work at Home Moms Talk Radio

That page has more info about Melissa and her family and the direct donation link to Melissa.

ALL DONATIONS VIA THE DONATE BUTTON GO DIRECTLY TO MELISSA

I know the Warrior Forum has rallied for it's own before and just hope that maybe some members who know (or even don't know) Melissa from the WF might be able to contribute. She's been a tremendous asset to this community and is a fantastic person who is just heartbroken over her son's death.

Any amount would help and if you could tweet the link as well that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help!

These are the kinds of things that really put our trivial problems into
        perspective.

There are just no words for a loss of this nature.

I'm now going to hug my daughter and tell her I love her.

Maybe we should all do the same with our children.

          I agree

I look at my beautiful grandchildren aged 6 and 4 and couldn't possibly imagine how I would cope if we ever, God forbid lost either of them

My heart goes out to the whole family

            What I think:

This is perhaps not easy to for me to appreciate as I have no children. But I do have plenty of loved ones, a number of elders that have sadly passed away. Its an unpleasant and awful grief stricken time. And to lose a child who have their life ahead of them is extremely sad. I am very sorry to the parents, it must be a lot to cope with.

            But:

Why put up a post informing people about the death and asking people to donate towards funeral costs? I am sure the family concerned are not broke with absolutely no money. If somebody in my family was to pass away, the funeral costs have to be met, not collected through some online donation scheme.

Why not collect money towards helping people and families with 'Gaucher Disease' instead. That would be extremely helpful towards improving our world helping it to make it a better place in some small, tasteful and colourful way.

I am sorry if the post is a bit cold.

If you don't want to give donations then you are not being obliged. If you take a look at Kelly's blog, she's asking for donations in exchange of:

              1. Lifetime Membership to Mom Masterminds for $250 $100

              2. The Blog Internship Ten Week Course & Bonuses for $29

Meaning to say, you will get something in exchange. Kelly can just keep all the profits from those memberships and courses, but she decided to donate it to Melissa's family as a way of helping.

And also, this is not an online donation "scheme" just like what you've said. Never will i imagine someone doing this, will use family's death to earn money. This is just a pure help. So, it would be more appreciated if you just clean off your dirty mind, just don't reply here if you think this is just a scheme after all.

You also said, "If somebody in my family was to pass away, the funeral costs have to be met, not collected through some online donation scheme". That is right, but I'm sure you've already experienced to receive some donations from your friends, relatives offline if there was a death in your family. It's just the same thing here, the only difference is, people can donate online.

If I can reply about the need for the post, since I'm the one who posted it.

First of all, Melissa and her family currently live in an area where they don't have family and friends nearby. They were, two weeks before Kyle passed away, signing papers to buy a house closer to friends and family and putting their house on the market. They wanted to be closer to family so they would have support as they took care of Kyle. As a result, they have funds that are tied up in that transaction.

As you can imagine, a funeral is terribly expensive for any young family. Coupled with their current expenses in trying to move, well...it's a struggle.

The need for the Ingold family to move has never been greater. Neither Melissa nor her husband can bear to sleep in their bedroom where Kyle passed away. Their current house is where therapies, treatments and many struggles pertaining to Kyle's health took place. As I'm sure any parent can understand, the horror of losing a child is compounded by the fact that it took place in their home. They need a fresh start. Helping with funeral expenses will get them closer to it.

Second, the Warrior Forum isn't your average forum. I've been a member for many years and have seen the members here rally to help other Warriors. Melissa has been a valuable member here and has many friends. Perhaps, inter123, it's due to your being relatively new here, but you need to understand that we take care of each other. It goes beyond IM here. We pull for each other, share advice and give feedback on business but we extend those actions to our friends' personal lives as well.

One last thing: Melissa has a blog that talks at great length about Gaucher Disease and decided to be an advocate for families whose children suffer from this disease. Her blog at A Cherished Angel | Fighting Type 2 and 3 Gaucher Disease was started not long after Kyle was diagnosed so she could share her family's experience and bring awareness. The fact that she personally needs help right now should not diminish the work she has done to make people aware of the disease and to help other parents.

I think the response to this thread speaks for itself. It's a testament to the quality of human beings who spend their time here. I'll let that stand as the only evidence I need that the Warrior Forum is truly special.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far!

I'm writing this with just enough bite on my tongue to remain civil.

First, you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

Second, how can you be "sure" about anyone's financial situation other than your own? Rather presumptuous

Next, if someone in your family passed and you needed help with funeral costs, etc. I'm sure there are some Warriors who would help you as well. The thing you need to understand is that you joined in December 2009. The reason that Melissa & her family are getting the level of support they are is partially because she's been a member since October 2007 and many people have interacted and/or done business with her.

Also, your choice of the word "scheme" is very distasteful.

Finally, as far as supporting Melissa & her family directly rather than a charitable organization that deals with Gaucher Disease...Melissa is a fellow Warrior. While I'm sure nobody is against giving to the greater good, this is about helping one of our own. Because each of us probably has a number of "greater good" organizations we support, ones that deal with Gaucher Disease may not be on a lot of lists. Your implication that supporting an individual directly is somehow less tasteful and colorful than supporting a charitable organization leads me to believe you have misguided views of the spirit of giving.

Anyway, like I said, you are entitled to your opinion. I just don't agree with it.

As someone with children, I can tell you right now that even the thought of losing one of them is enough to make me crazy. So, I definitely can't imagine it actually happening.

I've been one of Melissa's clients in the past, she's hard working and high value. You know, never even realized her son was ill, she either never mentioned it or I wasn't paying attention.

Too many Tweets, too many emails, too many FB friends... not enough real, true connection anymore.

I would say how sad it is that these kinds of things happen to good people, but the truth is, good, bad, or indifferent - this is the kind of thing you don't wish upon anyone.

Melissa - hugs and tissues IMSweetie, my heart goes out to you and your family - I'm paying attention now.

OMG I'm so sorry to hear that, and can't imagine her pain.

I had never heard of Gaucher Disease, and when I searched the Net, Wikipedia said it is carried by 1 in every hundred people. When two people with that gene anomoly have children, there is a 25% chance the child will be born with Gaucher.

    Donation and prayers sent.

My son died at age 5 months in 1988
I felt guilt for working 75 hrs a week at the time, as a result I missed most of his short life.
If it's never happened to you, you have no idea of what it does to you.

    I haven't been right since.

As many of you know Barb and I lost our 4 year old Granddaughter, Olivia Grace, 7 June 2009 and the devastation that was brought into our lives is almost beyond belief.

Barb and I reach out to Melissa, her husband, each of the grandparents, and too every single member of the family. We do this through prayer and holding each one of them in our minds and heart as they grieve for their child.

When we lost Olivia Grace there was a huge pouring out of love from my fellow Warriors. My family and I could not believe the hundreds of post that poured in here on the forum. I still keep going back to these post today for comfort and am so grateful for them.

Even though my family were blessed to have the financial means to cover the necessary expenses, I can testify as to the financial impact the funeral will have on the Ingolds. So if you have even an extra dollar or two, it will truly help these folks out.

As a father of six beautiful and healthy children I feel ashamed sometimes at how much I take for granted in my life. Life is just damn awful short to be worrying about trivial things. My condolences go out to Melissa and her husband and I pray they can grow even closer to one another as a result of this tragedy.

I don't know Melissa, but NO parent should have to endure the heart-wrenching pain that comes with losing a child.

I can't even begin to empathize, and I am at a complete loss of words after reading the original post. My heart goes out to Melissa, her husband, and her family.

I'm new here but as a mother this touched me so deeply. I think in this life we have a choice no matter what - the choice is to help carry or not help carry the load of others, so it is made a little easier to bear. We cannot take away the grief but we can help ease the monetary stress of laying this little angel to rest. Well, I along with others in this thread choose to help Melissa, her husband and their families through one element of their journey of loss..... May Kyle rest in peace.

My thoughts and love, V x

We should know later today whether enough has been raised. Any amount is helpful, but I'll report back when I know.

Thank you so much for all of the support you've shown Melissa and her family. Your heartfelt messages mean so much to her I'm sure.

Hey everybody, I tried to get a hold of Jen Knox to post an update but I haven't been able to yet today and wanted to update everyone ASAP

Thanks to you and our wonderful WAHM Community, we raised enough to pay off the funeral bill for the Ingold Family!

      Total Given: $6824.50

      In just five days

Thank you for your gift and your encouragement. Melissa is absolutely blown away by the response. In the midst of a terrible sorrow, she knows that we care - and that helps.

Lifting this burden for this young family - it is an amazing gift and I know that Warriors had a HUGE part in it.

I lost me sister when I was 11 years old and my brother was killed by a drunk driver, while walking on the sidewalk when he was 26 and I was 24.

That was a long time ago and it impacted me deeply on both occasions and to this very day, I simply don't know, nor can I fathom the loss of a child.

I can however remember the incredible people that came to me and my families side to help as you guys have done for your very good friends and I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the Ingold family for the loss of their son and on behalf of them and families like mine, I would like to thank you for being such very good friends!

Believe me when I say, they will never forget what great friends you have been to them, I can attest to that personally and I will never forget those that did for me and mine what you have done for your friends.

    God Bless.

My thoughts and condolences are with Melissa and her family.

In 1998 I lost my first wife through breast cancer, leaving me with two small children, but with the help of family and friends I got through it, I have often felt that had it have been one of my two girls, it may not have been the same outcome.

It is so uplifting and moving to read other Warriors comments and note their feelings, generosity and Special Warrior Community togetherness.

Although the pain dulls over time, you never forget.

As a father of 3 healthy kids, I may not understand the loss of a child. But I understand the unconditional love that a parent gives unselfishly to their little ones.

Why not collect money towards helping people and families with 'Gaucher Disease' instead. That would be extremely helpful towards improving our world helping it to make it a better place in some small, tasteful and colourful way.
