  • Web search that predicts what you want based on your patterns, and tells you what you want instead of you figuring anything out.

You'll no longer need to actually 'search' after 5-10 searches, because a lot of your information (cc cards/purchases/websites you own/etc) will be linked up through things like 'free' services such as Google Analytics, and you'll just be 'offered' stuff.

Go into youtube right now, set up an account, and you'll find they start offering you videos until you find 5-10 hours later you are still watching the videos.

Ohh, I think it'll definitely be Google leading the way.

Not sure, but my guess is things will become more & more personalized for you, depending on your search history, likes, dislikes, etc. Like said above, instead of searching it'll already know what to serve you. Then probably will base things off what your network of friends & contacts like as well.

Yea I also agree with the above suggestions. I think that we won't have to search a lot of pages because, it will automatically show results personalized from our previous search patterns. If you notice its kinda really in its very early stages of beta testing, ex: ebay, youtube. If you have searched something on there sites the next time you visit, it will show you boxes on the side or top that says what is suggested for you to view, based on your previous searches.

      Hiya,
I've read up on quite a bit of this stuff. What I think it will be is something called "The Semantic Web", google that and see what you get.

Basically tags in your web pages will point to a reference that defines what that tag is. Search engines will use this to refine your searches (search will actually become redundant).

      An example:
Let's say we are searching for a 'Red Car'.
      Present Day Web:
The search engines do a text scan for all pages that have the words 'Red' and 'Car' on them and then run it through an algorithm (Page Rank) to look for the best match.

      The Future:
On your search definition you will say I want a Thing Called Car that has a property of Colour which is Red.
Then search engines will find all pages that have a an html tag pointing to Car with a property of the Colour Red.

      You'll get 100% matches everytime.
      Very cool!

As for the results of the Web Search, it will be becoming geared more and more towards organisations that paid for the listing.
