301 permanent redirects

I've just set-up a load of 301 redirects for a dreamweaver site that I took down and replaced with a wordpress managed site.

I used cpanel instead of .htaccess to set-up the redirects but when i visit the old URLs it doesnt redirect yet.

Is there a time delay or should this be instant?

I am aware that the Search Engines can take a while to notice the changes but as Ray Liotta said in his Heineken advert (find it on youtube)...it becomes a different matter.

thanks

When you create a redirect, it's instant. The problem may be that you need to clear your browsers cache. Try to use a different browser to see if that works. If it does, it's most likely a browser related issue.

Thanks Gene - I cleared th cache as thats what i thought it was too - but to no avail. I guess the 301s aren't working then :-( Need to get read a cpanel tutorial then!
