Is there a way to get IP addresses of my customers who paid via Paypal?

I don't know of a way through Paypal, but if you use a third-party download option, like e-junkie, they usually do capture IP's. I have looked at ways to find that out directly thru Paypal and have not been successful.

Yes, luckily I use e-junkie for last 2 yrs, but if Paypal would have this info - it would be terrific.

Not to my knowledge unless you capture it in the back end process.

In my WP sites I use Blue Trail Event Viewer which captures the ip addresses at login - so when they login after payment I have it. Not exactly what you want but it gives you the information at login.

      Makes sense for sure.
Member logins. Or buyer downloads anything - IP could be captured after the fact.

      Thanks!

I'm not sure about PayPal but there are some sites that captures IP addresses. I do agree that it would be terrific if PayPal's able to get customer's IP. additional security of the sellers.

  • most people have dynamic IP addresses so you would not get much use out of the IP address because it doesn't stay the same.
AOL users ( are there any left? ) used to get new IPs randomly as they were online.

besides, you can't really track anyone down much closer than their city and ISP.

If your creating your own paypal buttons on your site then you can use the custom field to pass the ip address through the paypal payment process. Then you can retrieve it by IPN or by the return URL.
