How much does content factor into sales?

Just how much does content factor into sales?

I have got one very simple squidoo lens that I talked about technology (my expertise) plus lots of call to action and very key headlines on prices, time and very hype (and real) technology that is offered by the products and it has been a consistent winner and giving me constant sales even through I have practically left it untouched.

What gives? I have been moving from niche to niche, dating, followed by technology, and now yeast infections. How do you guys move from niche to niche?

Do I need to get people to produce content for me? Or how much does content factor in? The click rate of the squidoo lens is really a very small amount, about 350, but I have gotten over 20 over sales from it.

Btw, all my questions are directed towards affiliate marketing. I do want to get boatloads of sales but there seems to be a barrier in terms of niche specific knowledge, rather than SEO, backlinking and other tools.

Any suggestions? Aiming to hit over the $5000 per month for sales

You mostly answered your own question The amount of content you'll need from niche to niche differs. Some niches are easy to make money in- and some are far more difficult. Also, some offers (affiliate products) are great sellers, and others just don't convert.

It comes down to doing the market research to figure out what content and products your prospects are looking for as well as examining what your competitors are doing.

    Sometimes, you just get lucky

Of course, the more content you have out there, the more chances you'll have to rank in the search engines. Content can't really hurt you, though if you're just talking about making Squidoo lenses it can become too long. Then, you need to focus on getting backlinks to rank higher in the search engines.
