How do you remember Warrior members?

Is there a note feature anywhere on this forum, a system to remind you about particular members?

I've quite often read someone's post and thought to myself, "Is this the guy that said such-and-such or was that somebody else?" If there was a simple note feature, a personal scoring system, it would certainly help my far from perfect memory!

There's obviously a core of names that I don't need any help in remembering but there's also a whole raft of people that only crop up occasionally.

This forum has nearly 100,000 members and whilst they're not all active, there's certainly thousands that do contribute and I'd like an aide-mémoire to assist.

I know you can take each post on its merit but sometimes I'm just a good old fashioned judgemental sod of a human being and I'd like to recall who the wise ones are and who are the idiots.

Am I in a minority here or does everyone else just rely on their old grey matter to remember who's who?

Peter

You're the only one I ever remember, Peter. It's because you look like Anthony Worrall-Thompson

There is no feature that does this.

You will need to remember their USER name.

Everytime you like someones post, write their USER name on a piece of paper.

This may sound silly but you can do it.

Peter, this happens to me all the time. I can never remember who said what. I do print out the very best posts via PDF, but I suppose the answer is subscribing to a thread - though I do get you'd rather track per user

I have a memory like a sieve. The introduction of Warrior pics has made life easier though, and have highlighted a few oversights. Vince Runza and Vegas Vince are clearly not the same person

NB In the absence of forum feature, make note to self never to ask Diana for help that requires observational skills. Is this small enough for you not to be able to read it Diana? :p

Peter, there is a note function on your user cp. I'm not sure how to use it other than to just write in it, that may be all it does.

Nope, you gotta keep your own revenge list

How do I remember Warriors? Frankly, I don't.

    Most are simply not memorable.

I just read that and it sounds harsh... but it's the truth, at least as far as forum interaction goes.

The people I do remember, they post quality information (more than an extended "yes, I agree"), they make you think, they question and reason and provoke though.

As has been mentioned above, make use of the avatar feature and people are more likely to remember you. When you're just a username, you're more likely to be forgotten.

              Hi Peter -

Don't know if this will help.

In your member's area you can create file folders. There is also a notepad you can keep notes that only you see.

The paper and pen thing seems to be the logical alternative. I'd find using the 'notes' in the CP a bit clumsy.

I didn't know if this new board supported some kind of icon that could be checked against each username. I recall being on other sites that you could do this. I guess this will just have to go down as on my wish list - but not likely to happen.

You could always go see a coder about coding one up for you, and asking Allen if he'll activate it here on the forum! You could make it available to certain users, or all the users!

    ...It's only an idea though!

As someone already mentioned out though, there is that notes section in your User Control Panel. But just reading your last post, it's a touch clumsy. LOL

    Thanks

You could always start your own list of 'The Good, the Bad and the Smugly' using Google notes.

Of course, most of us have brilliant and indifferent days - some day winners, some day weiners. So be as quick to judge and categorize as you would like to be judged or categorized.
