Here's a quick way to increase sales conversion on your website.

Forget about improving a cool video, long copy or a compelling order button.

Although these work well...this works extremely well.

It's called a 24 hour telephone number.

Yes. It's as simple as that. Show your telephone number next to your order button and at the top and bottom of your sales letter.

Make sure you or your customer support will answer the phone.
In my tests this element alone has increased conversions by more than 200% in some cases.

Being able to reach someone on the phone will remove any doubts of being scammed by a business.

Try it and be amazed.

    Thanks for the tip Domenico, I am sure it increases your conversions significantly... However, what happens when/if you have A LOT of traffic coming to your site and the phone is ringing off the hook?

    Do you outsource to a call center?

      That's something you can research yourself.

      You could, for example hire a support person full time. Now if this can be done in another country by a good english speaker it might cost $300/mo. Then you need to wire-up the phone, but you could use skype and provide international call-through numbers. The employee just needs a skype conenction.

        If you're just starting out, there are different ways of handling this.

        1. handle the calls yourself and hire another person to cover for you when you're asleep

        2. play a voicemail asking the customer to leave their phone number. Get back to them ASAP.

    When I was selling tangible goods, adding a toll free number increased my sales by FIFTY PERCENT!

    I would add to your tip that it would be best to be able to accept credit card orders via telephone, as well. You don't need a merchant account to do it. You can upgrade your PayPal account to include the Virtual Terminal or simply sign up for ProPay.com. Their accounts come with a VT.

      Lots of people talk about how effective this is. However the average marketer won't do this.

      They are scared to put their home phone no. or think having a business toll-free no. is too much for their current business.

      Again, it all boils down to taking action and not just reading.

      Great tip from E. Brian Rose about accepting credit cards via telephone. Make sure your visitors know about this on your web page.
